The 73rd Emmy Awards are just a month away and the Television Academy is making sure to put the safety of attendees first by moving the awards show to an outdoor venue due to the ongoing pandemic and the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant.

The ceremony was originally set to return to the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, in front of "a limited audience of nominees and their guests," but the Television Academy announced the change in venue on Aug. 11.

Cedric the Entertainer will host this year and Debbie Allen will be honoured with the Governors Award for her decades of "unprecedented achievements in television and her commitment to inspire and engage marginalized youth through dance, theater arts and mentorship."

With so many binge-worthy shows that kept viewers all over the world entertained during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's going to be tough to pick some winners. Bridgerton, Ted Lasso, The Flight Attendant and Lovecraft Country are all in the running this year.
