Adele’s most prized possession is a framed piece of Celine Dion’s chewed gum

And she has James Corden to thank for it.

Lining her overburdened trophy shelves Adele has a host of Grammys, multiple Billboard Music Awards, one Juno, and an Oscar — to name only a few of the accolades bestowed upon the gifted British singer who is slated to gift us with her fourth studio album, 30 in less than a month. And yet, her most prized possession is not among the hardware that various awards-granting bodies have honoured her with. It is, instead, a piece of chewing gum.

Specifically, the item is singer Celine Dion’s gum, and it is of the ABC (already been chewed) variety.

James Corden, a friend of Adele’s, had Dion as a guest/passenger on his Carpool Karaoke series. Knowing what a huge fan Adele is, he had the Canadian icon spit her gum into a piece of paper. He then had that framed for Adele. And that, everyone, is the definition of friendship, FYI.

This gum revelation (and yes, you do get to see the framed confection) is just one small part of Adele’s "73 Questions" series with Vogue magazine. The singer willingly subjected herself to the rapid-fire grilling the series is known for, dropping juicy tidbits about her past work, upcoming album, and personal life. She also did a little bit of extra credit work, actually answering 95 questions instead of the typical 73. Fan super sleuths quickly discovered that it's likely a little Easter egg since the numbers in her album titles (19, 21, 25, 30) add up to 95.

Celine wasn’t the only CanCon that popped up during the interview. Adele also cited her favourite lyricist as Leonard Cohen (in the past, she’s also professed her love for filmmaker Xavier Dolan who she’s worked with multiple times, including on the video for her latest track, "Easy on Me").

South of our border, Adele is a fan of John Mayer, who supported her after her throat surgery.

“He was very encouraging to stay silent and be patient,” she told Vogue. “My injury is a very common singer’s injury. So, not to worry about it. Yeah, he was great. He’s such a sweetheart. I love him so much. Afterwards,” she added, “it was a brand new voice. It was so clean and pure.”

When it come to the UK music industry, Adele said she’s never been more nervous than when she had to perform in front of Sir Paul McCartney — and yet in a faceoff between The Beatles and the Spice Girls, she goes with the Girls.

Adele, who says that she’s realized that as a Brit living in the US her  “sarcastic humour doesn’t actually travel” also opened up about her personal life, saying that if she could give her 19-year-old self any words of wisdom it would be “your love life’s going to get a lot worse.” On that same track, Adele admitted that the biggest risk she’s ever taken was “leaving my marriage” (a fact that’s fairly fresh – the singer was divorced just this past March).

The confidence with which she addressed the risk, however, was evidence of how much Adele has evolved. When asked what her diaries looked like while she was writing 21 Adele answered “Drunk. Chaotic. Stress. Very, very sad. They are all hidden in a handbag in my wardrobe somewhere in London.” That’s worlds away from the composed and confident Adele we get today.

Despite a not-so-easy emotional road to success, the singer says that she’s adopted a mantra that’s served her well: “The best advice I ever got was to keep your heart safe and your music dangerous,” Adele revealed. “And I live by that.”
