If you’ve been itching to know what happened to Rue on HBO’s Euphoria since the August 2019 season one finale, the first of the two special Euphoria episodes coming ahead of season two is finally streaming this Sunday on Crave. Yes that’s right, Zendaya returns to her Emmy-winning role for this special two-episode holiday gift, so she video-chatted with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to talk all things Euphoria. But what was forefront on Jimmy’s mind was Drake, who serves as executive producer on the show. The rumour was: at the wrap party, Drake showed up with oodles of cash-money to give away to everybody, which is totally something Drake would do.

“It wasn't exactly that," Zendaya clarified. "I don't know the full situation, but I know at our wrap party, Drake was gifting money to people. Like people would enter into a raffle and people won money which was cool. Especially for our crew members they were like very, very happy about it!”

Of course, Jimmy had to wonder “if he gives out American money or that phony Canadian money?” First of all, Jimmy, how very dare you?

When we last saw recovering addict Rue on Euphoria, she was left by Jules at the train station and relapsed, and it’s been one long helluva 2020 to find out what has happened to her since then. Jimmy played a short clip of her chatting with another recovering addict in a coffee shop who says, “Trouble don’t last always,” (the title of the first special episode) and as it turns out, that former addict played a huge role behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera.“She is Miss Marsha and she is absolutely incredible,” Zendaya gushed about the woman, who is credited as Marsha Gambles.

“We’re so lucky that we have her in the Euphoria family! We actually met her at one of the churches that we shot Euphoria season one at. We met her while we were shooting the pilot and she worked there. Sam [Levinson, director] met her and we were just taken by her charm and her personality and her story"

"She has her own story of addiction and her own battle with addiction and she was so open and honest," Z continued. "Sam was like, ‘Miss Marsha we're coming back for you!’ When he wrote these episodes he was like, ‘We got to bring Miss Marsha back!’ […] Those words that you see are her own words and she spoke to us and it was such a beautiful moment. […] What she says is her story and it actually ended up being the title of the episode!” Wow that sounds like something straight out of Humans of New York. Consider us hooked

Zendaya, who was Zoom-calling in from Atlanta where she’s currently filming the very secretive and hush-hush Spider-Man 3, could only confirm that yes, she spent Thanksgiving there in a little physically-distanced bubble, but kept her lips zipped when Jimmy tried to prod into the details of the third installment of the superhero franchise.“Is it called Spider-Man 3 because there are three Spider-Men in the movie?” he asked.“I can neither confirm or deny,” she coyly said with a smile.“Did you have Thanksgiving there in Atlanta . . .  with Spider-Man?”“Ya—I can't say!” she shook her finger. Dang it, he almost had her!

She just shrugged her shoulders and pretended she had no idea when Jimmy brought up that Tobey Maguire is a vegan and can’t have Thanksgiving turkey (“I was wondering if he had like a Tofurkey or something?”) but even with her tight lips, he wouldn’t let up.“True or false, Zendaya!! Andrew Garfield hates a cranberry sauce!!” Trick question! Everyone hates cranberry sauce.

Stream all of Euphoria season one on Crave now and watch the first special episode Dec. 6, 2020.
