If you’ve been missing Rue and itching to know what happens next on HBO’s Euphoria (streaming now on Crave), Zendaya has your back. The actor revealed that not one, but two special episodes of the series are on the way, and one of them is coming sooner than you’d think.“We really missed them. Two special Euphoria episodes coming soon. First one December 6th on @hbo,” Zendaya shared with her followers on October 19, tagging co-star Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules. In the Instagram post she also shared a cryptic, close-up of Schafer’s eye, in which Zendaya’s Rue character is reflected.

According to Deadline, the first bonus episode has a Christmas theme and is called “Trouble Don’t Last Always.” Because it’s being classified as a “bridge” episode to help shorten the gap between the show’s first and second season, the full cast won’t appear. The publication does report that Colman Domingo, who plays Ali, will star though. And judging by the sneak peek Zendaya posted, fans holding out hope that Schafer stops by might not be disappointed. While there are no other details just yet (or an announcement as to when the second special episode might air), the special should pick up following the August 2019 finale, in which recovering addict Rue was left by Jules at the train station and relapsed. Given that, it will be interesting to see how the holiday season finds the character. Both episodes were filmed under the new COVID-19 production guidelines. Zendaya previously teased the installments after the pandemic forced the second season to shut down a couple of days before filming was scheduled to begin in California. “We're trying to figure out how to eventually be able to create a season 2 that we're all really proud of and get all the best out of it that we want but also still being very safe," she told Ben Platt when he guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this year. "So, we might end up doing a little bridge episode. I don't really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment that can, I don't know, give people something.”Or two somethings, to be more accurate, because it seems like series creator Sam Levinson was feeling extra generous when he set about writing and directing the installments. Meanwhile, as fans wait for the December 6 release, they can also go back and watch the entire first, eight-episode season on Crave.

Euphoria debuted to rave critical reviews in June 2019 and featured former Disney star Zendaya (Shake It Up) in a whole new, adult light. The 24-year-old became the youngest Emmy winner for lead actress in a drama for the role last September, which she accepted virtually with a speech that was a total mood.“I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating but I just want to say there is hope in the young people out there, “ she shared. “I know that our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that but there is hope in young people. And I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire and I thank you.”[video_embed id='-1']Before you go: Zendaya wins the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series[/video_embed]
