Fans are counting down the days until Peacock’s new Saved By the Bell revival hits the streaming circuit, but in the meantime they finally have a new trailer to look forward to. And unlike the first one, this teaser finally features Zack and Kelly. In the two-minute clip almost the entire gang is back together again, but blink and you may miss it. Although Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) has a moment in the trailer with his son, Mac Morris (Mitchell Hoog), Kelly (Tiffany Thiessen) is only seen in quick flashes. There’s a spot where she, A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez), Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley Lauren) and Zack are performing onstage (Zack Attack returns!), and another where she and Zack are walking down the hallway. Is it enough for those who have been longing for a true update on Bayside’s hottest couple? John Michael Higgins’ Principal Toddman character probably captures the real mood best: “I just care about Zack and Kelly!” he shouts in the trailer.
On the plus side there are other call-backs that should satiate the 1980s and 1990s crews out there. At one point A.C. calls Jessie “Mama” and during another scene he sits down in a chair backwards—a typical Slater move that’s totally called out by a student. Need more? Mr. Dewey (Patrick Thomas O’Brien) also makes a small cameo, the entire trailer is set to a remix of “Friends Forever,” and Max (Ed Alonzo) is still up to his old magic shenanigans. On the downside, there’s still no Screech (Dustin Diamond) or Lisa (Lark Voorhies) anywhere near this thing. In an interview with TMZ last February, Diamond revealed that no one reached out to him about reprising his role. “Out of all the cast members, I was in… the most [episodes], and that’s not the case anymore if I’m not in the new one,” Diamond said at the time.  Perhaps it was his jail time or tell-all book that dampened his chances? That same month Voorhies expressed her own disappointment about not being included in the revival. “I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members events,” she said on The Dr. Oz Show. The actor, whose fashionable Lisa Turtle character became a pop culture icon when the show first aired, added that she believes her mental health disorders, played a factor in the decision not to be asked back. The new Saved By The Bell picks up when students from a low-income high school are transferred to Bayside High, where the rich students are more than a little out-of-touch with the real world. There they meet Zack’s son, (who looks hauntingly like his pops), as well as Zack himself, who is the new Governor. That’s all shown in the trailer, which is equal parts new characters and old. (Gosselaar and Thiessen are only guesting in the new series, while Berkley and Lopez are permanent adult fixtures.)One thing is for sure, and that’s that the network is trying to attract a whole new generation to the series that won fans over for five seasons, generated two spin-off series, and even inspired a Lifetime movie of the week. Fans won’t have to wait long to see whether the streaming service is successful in its mission, since this SBTB 2.0 is scheduled to drop at the end of November.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Little girl shows university football players how it's done[/video_embed]
