Yes, there’s still sexual tension between Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves

Diane Keaton is an amazing actress, and she wants to spend some time alone with Keanu Reeves after the Academy Awards—or at least, that’s what she wants us to believe. Like any hot-blooded person on earth, the actress seemed totally enamoured with her former co-star Keanu Reeves as they co-presented the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Keanu, for his part, seemed equal parts delighted and flustered by the attention. It may have been genuine sexual tension or it could be perfectly executed Oscar banter but we don’t care: Keaton and Reeves are the throwback movie couple we need right now, and they did not disappoint.Keaton appeared onstage in her signature menswear-inspired look and hat while Reeves wore a classic black tux. They took to the stage arm-in-arm, Keanu appearing to blush before they even reached the mic.“Hello there, Keanu,” Keaton purred, and so it began. She quickly referenced the classic 2003 Nancy Meyers rom-com Something’s Gotta Give, which featured a love triangle between herself, Reeves and Jack Nicholson’s character. (Spoiler alert: Keaton’s character inexplicably chooses Jack Nicholson’s character in the end.)“You were amazing,” Reeves enthused, with Keaton eagerly returning the sentiment.“Well, we had some good times,” she added coyly.“You and Jack!” he replied.“I wouldn’t go that far,” Keaton shot back. “But anyway…”True, this isn’t about Jack—this is about Keaton finally connecting with Keanu the way she should have almost 20 years ago. It’s poetic justice and viewers couldn't get enough, with director Nancy Meyers even getting in on the fun.

Keaton then tried to open the winner’s envelope, with Reeves quickly stopping her so the nominees could be shown. As the clip ended, Keaton nearly dropped the envelope before giving it up and handing it to Reeves to open. It’s okay, Diane—who wouldn't be distracted by Keanu Reeves? The winner turned out to be for Han Jin-won and Bong Joon-ho for Parasite, but the real winners were romantic comedy fans and Diane Keaton.
