Anthony Anderson's dad energy has been on full display through six seasons of Black-ish, and the Jimmy Kimmel guest host brought all that and more when he interviewed TV-daughter Yara Shahidi Thursday night. He had several bones to pick with his fake-daughter, starting with the fact she missed two major milestones in his life, this month alone. On August 14, Anthony achieved a major career high with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and the day after that, celebrated his 50th birthday. But one face was noticeably absent from the festivities, and Anthony wasn’t about to let it drop.
After Yara told a fun story of celebrating her mother’s birthday on the beach with ice cream flown in specifically from Hawaii, Anthony had "a slight issue.”“You do all of that but yet you couldn't come to Hollywood Boulevard for your TV-daddy's star on the Walk of Fame!? And if that was going to be too hectic, you couldn't do a drive-by to my 50th birthday celebration at my house?” he unleashed. “You live in the foothills of the foothills, and you went all the way to the beach to play in the sand with your mama and her friends and melted ice cream from Hawaii?!”Yara, who needed an air-tight excuse to get out of this one, started to explain she didn't get an invite, but Anthony wasn't having any of it.“Yara I have the receipts! I will go to my phone and pull up the receipts where you asked me for my address so you can come by!” he exclaimed. Yara insisted that the address question was because she wanted to send a gift... a gift that Anthony apparently has yet to receive."Save the USPS," Yara deadpanned.Mental note: Anthony Anderson keeps receipts.[video_embed id='1999240']RELATED: Yara Shahidi signs major deal & launches production company [/video_embed]Anthony also took it back to 2018 to relive another moment when TV and real life began to blur for the Black-ish cast: the time his real-life son Nathan Anderson took his TV-daughter to prom. Anthony wanted Yara to explain exactly how that came about and, spoiler alert: it wasn’t romantic-ish.“He played our TV cousin in season one of Black-ish,” Yara laughed. “And I think we all became pretty much instant friends throughout the years, and so when it was time for his senior prom, I got to join him. We had the best time!” She added that Nate even asked her at a Black-ish event and noted, "So much has happened—all these milestones on the Black-ish lot."

That milestone also came with some fire lewks and striking fashion choices in the form of feathery coats featured in their prom photos, which both Yara and Nathan posted to Instagram, courtesy of her brother Ehsan. While it certainly doesn't seem to be romantic, Anthony joked, "I was really looking forward to paying for my TV daughter's wedding to my real-life son who played my TV nephew.”[video_embed id='2019163']BEFORE YOU GO: Find out how 'Euphoria' star Zendaya found out about her first-ever Emmy nomination [/video_embed]
