“You know you love me…” Or, well, you know you love the cast of Gossip Girl, who just so happened to reunite for a virtual trip down memory lane (in case re-watching the series on a semi-annual basis wasn’t enough).

Eight years after the final episode of the beloved teen drama aired, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford sat down to discuss the show for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, and their new roles on You and The Boys, respectively. During the chat, the stars even revealed the last time they watched The CW series that ran from 2007 to 2012 — which, apparently, wasn’t recently.

“I haven't seen it in so long. It would be very interesting to watch it now," Badgley admitted, before asking Crawford if he had watched it recently. "Buddy, you have to strap me to a gurney and pop my eyes open like Clockwork Orange. But no, it would be interesting to see the first couple maybe," Crawford replied, laughing.

Badgley told Crawford he actually watched a few episodes with his now-wife, Domino Kirke, before they got married. Explaining his discomfort, he said, ”I remember even then, it has nothing to do with the show, but it was very hard to watch. These snapshots of yourself when you're 20, 21, 22 years old. Who can enjoy that? Sometimes it's just uncomfortable."

Okay, so maybe they aren't the ideal companions for a good ol' GG binge-watching session, but we can dream, right? And it's understandable. Sometimes it’s hard to listen to a recording of your own voice, let alone watch yourself in the drama-filled show that launched your career in the mid-2000s. Or as Badgley so eloquently put it during their chat, a show which was, for some young people, "aspirational" at the time. "It was like an escape. It seemed like it struck a certain cultural chord because it was this aspirational fantastical vision of excess and wealth."

The pair also acknowledged that what worked back then likely wouldn’t work for audiences today. "Cut to 13 years later, people are not interested in that. And I think rightfully so. Now they’re interested in deconstructing why we’re so fascinated with that in the first place. We’re interested in deconstructing those systems of privilege," said Badgley, before Crawford added that while Gossip Girl was considered "edgy" in 2007, “the curtain has sort of dropped."

As it turns out, despite the nature of the teen drama, neither Crawford or Badgley are particularly into social media. Badgley even recalls the time their co-star Blake Lively (his then-girlfriend), gave him an iPhone for his birthday. The very first iPhone, to be precise. “I literally was like, ’I don't want this thing. It's so cumbersome, and it has all these apps on it," he (hilariously) recalled.

Crawford also admitted to resisting social media for a long time. “I was trying to be too cool for school. I think I got it in 2015, way late…” he said, as both actors realized they don’t even follow each other (!!!)

Crawford then went on to suggest the pair live tweet Gossip Girl (while having a drink, or two) next time Badgley is in L.A. For what it’s worth, Badgley seemed pretty into the idea, adding, “Dude, if we live tweeted a viewing of any episode of Gossip Girl, people would love that. Are you kidding?”

Can confirm: people WOULD love that, boys.
