We have officially entered the spookiest time of the year. Time to start thinking costume ideas, haunted house themes and, most importantly, which movies to pick out for your scary movie marathons. For the latter, Crave's new Creepy Cravings collection has enough films to keep you on the edge of your seat all month long, while their Best Halloween Episodes collection is a bonafide party starter, even if it is just for a party of one. Of course if horror isn’t for you, we have plenty of other suggestions. We understand, you aren't scared; you just need to ease your way into it.

Glass 

It is next to impossible to think horror thriller film without thinking M. Night Shyamalan. While not necessarily a horror thriller, Glass adopts many of the elements that have made Shyamalan’s films successful in the past, to realistically reimagine the superhero genre.The conclusion to his psychological superhero trilogy, Glass is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed, year 2000 thriller Unbreakable and its 2016 sequel Split. In it, Bruce Willis returns to his role as David Dunn, the now-older super powered vigilante fighting crime in Philadelphia. Eventually, his work leads him to an encounter with The Beast, played by James McAvoy, who also possesses super strength as well as 23 distinct and sometimes murderous personalities. However, unknown to both of them, their epic showdown has been engineered by criminal mastermind Elijah Price, played by Samuel L Jackson, who possesses a secret vital to both men. If you enjoyed Shyamalan’s early work, you will not be disappointed by Glass.

Wynonna Earp 

If you miss old school space westerns, checking out Wynonna Earp is a must. Set in the fictional town of Purgatory and filmed between Didsbury and Calgary, Alberta, the series follows social outcast Wynonna Earp, a descendant of real life historical lawman Wyatt Earp. On Wynonna’s 27th birthday, she inherits the power of the Peacemaker, the legendary mystical weapon her great grandfather used to defeat the revenants, the demonic reincarnation of past outlaws. 

Season 4 is currently in production and should begin airing on CTV Sci-Fi Channel in 2020, but luckily you can catch up on Seasons 1-3 now on Crave. You can also catch the series’ lead actress, Melanie Scrofano, playing Mrs. McMurray on the hit Crave Original Letterkenny.

Hidden Gem: Giant Little Ones 

Sure it’s the beginning of October, but is anyone ever really ready to say goodbye to summer? This week’s hidden gem is the end of summer coming of age film Giant Little Ones. The movie is centred around two popular teen boys and childhood best friends, Franky and Ballas, who are as close to high school royalty as it gets. Both star athletes and popular with the ladies, their lives are forever flipped upside down after an unexpected incident one evening at Franky’s 17th birthday party. The rest of the film is a heartfelt coming of age story that is sure to leave you longing for your youth. The Canadian film stars up and comers Josh Wiggins and Darren Mann (also seen on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and is directed by veteran Canadian director Keith Behrman.
