Time to be delighted (again) by Oscar nominee Margot Robbie's wacky and wonderful portrayal of anti-hero Harley Quinn when the standalone DCU flick drops this weekend, not to mention a chilling new doc series that explores the NXIVM sex cult scandal and you don’t want to miss Julia Garner’s performance in the critically-acclaimed drama The Assistant.Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)If chaotic energy were to be portrayed as a person, it's Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. Reprising her role from the 2016 summer blockbuster, Suicide Squad, Robbie returns to the DCU for her own superhero flick Birds of Prey. In the film, the charming anti-hero drops Jared Leto’s Joker for a new squad of female heroines. Joining Harley is Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, a highly-skilled combat expert and DC favourite, Lovecraft Country's Jurnee Smollett as Black Canary, a hero with the ability to release a paralyzing sonic attack, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, a cynical, alcoholic detective. Somehow Robbie’s psychotic but compelling version of Harley Quinn is the glue that keeps them together and it's a zany, fun watch. The series is directed by the Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning duo of Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer and looks at how leader Keith Raniere recruited a legion of dedicated followers including Smallville actress Alison Mack and how the marketing and self-help program was revealed to have nefarious intentions. You can stream episode one of The Vow on Crave on August 23 at 10pET with new episodes dropping every Sunday.
The AssistantA scathing look at an abuse of power, this drama follows the day-to-day life of an  assistant to a powerful movie executive. Ozark’s Julia Garner stars as Jane, a recent college grad and aspiring film producer who starts what appears to be her dream job but quickly turns into a nightmare as she slowly but increasingly notices the abuses happening around her. Joining Garner is fellow  scene-stealer Matthew Macfadyen, of Succession fame, and documentarian Kitty Green sits in the director’s chair. You can stream The Assistant on Crave today.
