Season 4 of World of Dance (Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on CTV) is only one episode away from deciding who walks (dances) home with the $1 million prize money and the title of the world’s best dancer. On Tuesday’s episode, judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo selected the two acts who will be joining last week’s semifinalists Geometrie Variable and Jefferson & Adrianita in Wednesday’s finale. The battle was hard-fought, the scores were massive, and the tears were flowing, but in the end, it was trio MDC3 and dance crew Oxygen who prevailed. The episode wrapped up the Semifinals with some brutal cuts that said goodbye to duos Bailey and Kida, Jake and Chau, dance crew Upeepz and solo artist Keegan Capps. The finale is gearing up to be the most competitive in World of Dance history, which is saying a lot. It’s WORLD of dance.[video_embed id='1966249']RELATED: Derek Hough’s latest project is all about inspiring kids to move in new ways[/video_embed]

MDC3

This trio has relied on the love triangle storyline throughout most of their performances this season but switched things up for their most recent performance. They stuck the landing with their leap of faith as the group used Madison to act out the role of the cancer that almost took her mother’s life. Set to Maxwell’s “This Woman’s Work,” the deeply personal and moving piece resonated with the judges. Part dance routine, part stunt choreography, part Shakespears Sister’s “Stay” video, MDC3 delivered theatrics, chemistry, beautiful lines, innovation, and most importantly, heart. JLo pushed through her tears to speak about the group’s power as a unit. “Rarely am I left speechless when I’m up here,” she said. “The level of intensity and emotion was so much to take in and it was so felt.” Derek was also moved to tears and said he felt grateful to have the opportunity to watch the group. As for Ne-Yo, the popstar has previously only gotten goosies once in four seasons. MDC3’s performance brought the goosie count up to two.Score: 96.7

OXYGEN

Oxygen went into the Semi-Finals as the underdogs after being voted out in the Duels and getting a chance at a comeback in the Redemption Round. The group put in the work and earned themselves a second place finish as well as the second highest score of the entire round. Ne-Yo called their theatrical performance, which took inspiration from Broadway to krumping, a piece of "moving art." JLo spoke directly to the group’s leader and choreographer, who was visibly emotional after they finished their near-perfect routine. “I could feel everything you were feeling,” said Lopez, who once again fought to hold back tears. “You were the maestro of the orchestra and it worked perfectly.”Score: 96.3

JAKE AND CHAU

There may not be another group with more chemistry and trust this season than Jake and Chau. The dynamic duo has consistently raised the bar at each round of the competition, giving themselves the increasingly difficult task of outperforming their most recent appearance. The pair did that and more on Tuesday, delivering a beautiful routine that didn’t waste a single step. Taking inspiration from figure skating for many of the moves, the pair oozed chemistry and gave JLo the goosies. Lopez declared Jake and Chau’s performance her favourite of the Semi-Finals so far and rewarded the pair with a score that had them in the leader position for most of the night until they were pushed into third place by Oxygen and MDC3.Score: 95.3

BAILEY AND KIDA

There’s no denying that Bailey and Kida are two of the strongest pop dancers to ever appear on World of Dance and the hip hop duo has proven that with every showing, including their Semi-Final performance. But what they continually fail to do is move that talent forward in a meaningful way, which may be a hurdle that simply requires more time spent dancing together. Separately, the pair have millions of social media followers and résumés featuring a laundry list of A-listers with whom they’ve danced in  music videos and during live concerts. Together, they have yet to find the chemistry and storytelling that they need to shift from being incredible solo artists to an incredible duo.Score: 93
