Monday’s night saw Part 1 of
The Bachelor season finale air and while we agonizingly wait for Part 2, the resulting episode had Bachelor Nation UP-SET with Pete’s mum Barb. All season we have been teased with a snippet of her crying to Pete, “Don’t let her go! Bring her home to us! That’s what love stories are made of!” and we honestly expected to be on her side when it finally aired. Honestly though, not so much. For weeks, fans have been speculating who Barb is crying over, and what the circumstances are. Is it Madison? Is it Hannah B? Is it a producer? Is it the emotional support cow (we stan), Ashley P?
After a very sweet encounter with Hannah Ann, and a rather tense meeting with Madison, Peter’s family sat him down to talk through his thoughts. And that’s when Barb turned on the waterworks, exclaiming that
Hannah Ann was an angel who God put here for Pete to fall in love with. Pete’s entire family was questioning whether he was seeing clearly, because Hannah Ann was clearly their unanimous choice. But here's the kicker—Pilot Pete was having none of it.Barb’s crocodile tears were unceremoniously halted when Pete told her very sternly to
knock it the heck off. At that moment, Bachelor Nation might have
cheered, because for once we are seeing
him reject the very drama that he fed off of for two dang months.Viewers, too, quite rightly called out Barb’s tears as
manipulative and a tad much. All season we’ve seen Peter swayed by
drama and crying and histrionics of all sorts, and now we my have a clue as to why. Because Barb is the
original drama queen in his life, using tears to sway him in her direction. Some viewers even called her out as the
biggest villain of the season. Harsh but maybe fair?[video_embed id='1590349']RELATED: Bachelor contestant Hannah B would NOT like to make a toast[/video_embed]Peter calling BS on his fam aside, finding out that
Barb was crying over
Hannah Ann rather
than Madi was truly
the biggest shocker. Viewers were feeling like clowns for thinking they could predict the finale, but seeing as how this has been the most unpredictable and dramatic season of
The Bachelor we have ever witnessed, viewers were like, “congratulations, you played ya’self.”Also, we gotta point out the elephant in the room—there was SO MUCH
sex talk with the parents. Do Mom and Dad really need to know who Peter has and hasn’t slept with? We're all for an opena and honest dialogue but then Mom is out here crying up a storm because of her son’s sex life? C’mon now, that's A LOT, even for
The Bachelor.By the end of Part 1, it didn’t seem to matter who
anyone wanted for Peter, because Madi decided to walk, and removed herself from the show. Not surprisingly, Bachelor Nation
had her back. All season, Madi has been poised and
clearly communicated her values and her standards. We can’t fault her for that, and for sticking up for herself. Bachelor Nation
noted how selfless and loving her choice was, because in the end she knew her and Pete weren’t compatible, so her final act of love was to let him find someone more suitable than her. Right in the feels. But before the screen faded to black and the credits rolled, Chris Harrison teased us that in Part 2, we haven’t seen the last of the fan favourite. Wait, what? Maybe there's hope for the Madi stans after all.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Elaborate ‘Sleeping Beauty’ proposal will tug at your heartstrings[/video_embed]
