These ladies didn't come (via video chat) to slay; they came (via video chat) to win! RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars (full season on Crave) crowned the winner of it's fifth season on Friday, and the top 3 finalists, Miz Cracker, Jujubee, and Shea Couleé all gathered via video-chat to watch the episode unfold in real time. Of course, they’d already filmed the finale before quarantine kicked in, but to see them react to the big moment was a trip. Each finalist not only got up in front of the at-home camera entirely done up in drag—not a hair out of place, every stroke of liquid eyeliner flawless—but they even had their own colour scheme and backdrop styled for the gods. Shea Couleé and Miz Cracker went all-in on mustard-yellow and bright pink, respectively, and Jujubee did it up in lavender with a comfy and stylish arrangement of pillows and plants as décor.
After the nervous queens scoffed and snorted at their own pre-recorded trash talk, RuPaul finally set the stage to announce the winner of season five and next inductee into the Drag Race Hall of Fame. One eternal pause later, Ru announced that, yaaaaaas, Shea Couleé had won! In the video and on video-chat, Shea lets the tears fly, totally overcome with emotion, while Jujubee and Miz Cracker jubilantly clap and cheer them on.“My name is Shea Couleé, and I didn’t come to slay; I came to win!” is their iconic acceptance speech. But it wasn’t all about attitude and platitudes, Shea Couleé took a moment to reflect on what winning the All-Stars truly means to them. “If my dad could see me now, he would be like, ‘That's my son.’ What this competition has given to me this time is far more valuable than a hundred thousand dollars because I feel like I've got my joy back.”As Shea Couleé welled up on stage and on video-chat, Miz Cracker asked what they were gonna do now that they're queen of the world. “Fart,” they deadpanned, wiping away tears. “I’m holding it in.” Ah, the glamour and sacrifice of the drag queen life.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: ‘Canada’s Drag Race’ judges spill the tea on the show’s exciting first season [/video_embed]Shea Couleé (AKA: Jaren Kyei Merrell) first appeared on Drag Race season 9 after auditioning five times for the show previously. Once on, they not only stunned Naomi Campbell herself with their "Snatch Game" impression of the model, they slayed all the way to the finale. Ultimately, they landed in a joint third/fourth place with fellow contestant Sasha Velour after a controversial decision by the judges. It was their destiny to get a second chance at the Drag Race title this year on All Stars.Even though—let’s face it—the win by Shea was pretty predictable to avid Drag Race fans, the big reveal was ruined for viewers by Netflix UK. North America knew the winner Friday night, but in many places in Europe and elsewhere, they had to wait until Saturday morning or later to watch the finale because of the time difference. When fans logged on to Netflix UK to watch it, the thumbnail for the episode revealed Shea Couleé to be the winner, essentially spoiling the entire show before anyone had even hit play! And drag queen fans had no problem draaaggging Netflix UK through the mud. Even popular British singer-songwriter Douglas Dare got in on the drag-fest.Look Netflix, we know you’re stanning Shea Couleé like the rest of us, but your algorithm needs a "tuck."Watch all five seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and weekly episodes of Canada's Drag Race Thursdays at 9E/6P on Crave.[video_embed id='2001521']BEFORE YOU GO: Can weTalk About… ‘Canada’s Drag Race’ S1E4 [/video_embed]
