After 11 years on our TV screens,
Modern Family is coming to a close with its series finale airing April 8. How are we going to survive without our weekly dose of weird Phil Dunphy sayings like, “When life gives you lemonade, make lemons. Life will be all, ‘Whaaat?’” (Is it strange that we totally get what he’s saying there?). Flipping the switch is what
Modern Family does best, so Tuesday night when the fully grown adult “kids” of the Emmy-winning show all appeared virtually via group video-chat on
Jimmy Kimmel Live! at-home edition, he had them “make lemons” with a scavenger hunt around their own homes.First of all, can we talk about how weird it is that Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez are, like, not little pipsqueaks anymore? “That's right America, the kids from
Modern Family are now all of legal drinking age,” Jimmy smirked. “Now do you feel old?” Why yes, yes we do. In our heads, they still need a note to get out of gym class. But we digress.
From the isolation of their own homes, the four “kids” talked about the sadness of the show ending. “It was real emotional,” Rodriguez said, “it was that was the last take then all of a sudden Eddie [O’Neil] put his arm around me and then I just went from zero to 100 real quick. It was just waterworks the rest of the day.” Aww, we feel ya, bud. After a quick trip down memory lane, Jimmy had them racing out of their seats to see who could find random items around their homes the quickest. Parents, this might be a good tactic if you've run out of things to do with the kiddos. The first task for the “siblings” was to go find and bring back something they loved, and wouldn’t you know it, all four brought back their dogs! So. Much. Cute. Then they had to read out their last text exchanges with co-star Julie Bowen. Most of them were pretty tame and nonsensical out of context, but then Gould read out an expletive-laden text that had Jimmy in stitches. Claire Dunphy, we are SHOCKED.[video_embed id='1935403'] Matthew McConaughey hosts bingo night with seniors[/video_embed]For the final round, Jimmy had them find the biggest bottle of alcohol in their homes, just to really drive home the point that these kids can imbibe at will. Winter came back with a massive bottle of Fireball (Dang girl, really?), Hyland came back with Bacardi (cool, cool) but it was Rodriguez who stole our hearts with a cute look on his face as he brought back a large bottle of rubbing alcohol. So wholesome! Also can we just point out that Rodriguez aka Manny on the show was wearing a “Who da Manny?” T-shirt? *Sniffle* We are going to miss this bunch SO MUCH.[video_embed id='1935646']BEFORE YOU GO: Lady Gaga enlists the A-list for her coronavirus fundraiser[/video_embed]
