Tyra Banks is sharing an important message with her fans in the wake of criticism about her hosting skills on Dancing With the Stars. Fans who have been missing fired host Tom Bergeron may not feel like Banks has been filling his shoes adequately, but that doesn’t mean Banks is ready to throw in the towel.“Tonight I hosted the second episode of DWTS that I’m hosting this season, and it wasn’t perfect,” Banks said in a TikTok video on September 23 over some inspiring music. “Yeah I had a lot of fun but I messed up, I said the wrong words, but the thing is I kept, kept going.” The 46-year-old then decided to call out someone else on the show who hasn’t been perfect so far this season: Skai Jackson, who had a small misstep during her samba with partner Alan Bersten.

“In fact tonight Skai Jackson—Disney Channel star, 18 year old—she kind of fell during her dance and she got back up and she kept going and because of that she’s here for another week,” Banks continued. “So the message is, I messed up this week, Skai messed up this week, but we’re going to keep on going and going all right? So forgive yourself when you mess up, stand the heck up and keep going.”The host then closed out her message by encouraging fans to ignore the haters. “Now tell the haters, ‘What, what? I don’t know your name. What, what? I don’t see you. What, what? ‘Cause I’m getting up and I’m keeping going,’ right?” She then signed off the video with a kiss.[video_embed id='1995527']RELATED: Tyra Banks will host and executive produce ‘DWTS'[/video_embed]Banks made her DWTS hosting debut on September 14, replacing outgoing hosts Bergeron and Erin Andrews. The pair had been surprisingly let go weeks before season 29 kicked off, as the show revealed it wanted to go in a new direction under host and producer Banks. In that first episode Banks lost an earring while interviewing Nelly and his partner Daniella Karagach following their salsa.“What’s also weird is I just lost an earring,” she said, according to People. “And I promised everybody that I’m going to keep it real, real. This earring, I might pass it to you Carrie Ann,” she said, awkwardly throwing it over to judge Carrie Ann Inaba before transitioning to Nelly’s scores.Regardless of how Banks performs as host, she was always going to face an uphill battle with loyal fans who have been tuning in to see Bergeron for the past 28 seasons. After all, Bergeron is kind of like the dad to TV viewers everywhere in the same way that Tom Hanks is the dad to film lovers everywhere. Still, she brings plenty of experience with her from her days as the host of America’s Next Top Model and as someone who helmed her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, from 2005 to 2011.“Dancing with the Stars is one of the biggest shows on TV, with a huge audience, and I really respect that,” Banks told People in mid-September. “I can't come in with a battering ram and try to change everything. That would be a bad business decision and dumb leadership. So I'm not doing that.”In other words? Keep calm, smize, and dance on.[video_embed id='2037265']Before you go: Should Tyra Banks’ ‘smize’ be added to the dictionary?[/video_embed]
