Warning! Spoilers ahead!

Episode 5 of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, dropped on Thursday and it sent shockwaves across the interwebs. Oh, you thought Big dying in episode 1 was gonna be the kicker of the series? Did you happen to notice that once-cynical, feminist, no-BS attorney Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) has been slowly drinking and toking along the way? Not to mention her chemistry with Che (Sara Ramirez) sizzling.

Well, it all came to the brink in this episode when, in Carrie’s kitchen (Carrie was asleep in the next room after hip surgery), Miranda and Che started kissing. And then touching. And then . . . loudly orgasming. Carrie woke up, saw them going at it, and tried to walk herself to the bathroom.

Reader, she didn’t make it to the loo. Instead, she tried to wee into a Snapple bottle, spasmed and spilled the bottle all over her sheets. Yes, this all happened IN ONE SCENE. Naturally, longtime SATC fans are not feeling the way Miranda has just blown up her life.

Forget the fact she’s married, she also raked husband Steve across the coals in the first SATC movie when he cheated on her. How could her character go from screaming, “you broke us!” in the movie to just casually laughing off her indiscretion to Carrie now in the new series?

Executive producer Michael Patrick King has previously stated that he wanted to start AJLT by blowing up Carrie’s perfect world, but we had no idea that also included Miranda. However, Cynthia Nixon, who is also a producer on the show, said recently that she wouldn’t return to the franchise unless they addressed some of the many ways the 1998 hit show had been “tone deaf.” It stands to reason that Nixon, who is married in real life to Christine Marinoni, might want to introduce more queer and LGBTQ+ storylines into her character’s arc. Still, Twitter is not feeling it.

Meanwhile, the episode, entitled “Tragically Hip” (no Canadian connection, unfortch) also contains a connection to Britney Spears’ fiancé Sam Asghari. He revealed Wednesday in his Instagram Stories that he actually auditioned for a part in the episode.

As Carrie is recovering from her hip surgery, she is greeted by a very handsome physical therapist named Travis. Including screencaps of the scene in his stories, Sam wrote, “Man I was looking forward to this role for the reboot of Sex and the City, And Just Like That.”

“Shout out to the dude that got it! It was a dope role,” he added.

The stories have since expired but you can see screencaps of them here (via NY Post).
