The fate of Monday night’s episode of The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2) has been up in the air for weeks as the playoffs for Season 18 were not filmed prior to the reality show’s shutdown following the spread of COVID-19 throughout North America. Thankfully, the show must go on, mullets and all.Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Nick Jonas along with the final 17 contestants pre-taped their appearances on Monday night, showing off their homes and their affinity for filters. Kudos to Nick Jonas and his very on-brand red chair. As for Shelton, it’s unclear whether he knew there was a camera on him throughout the episode. Maybe he was just frozen? We’ll go with that.Host Carson Daly was the only member of The Voice to appear on set on Monday night. Daly kicked things off by throwing to an heartfelt gut punch performance led by this season’s guest mentor James Taylor, who along with all 20 contestants sang “Shower The People” while footage of first responders played. So, sobbing. The show started off with sobbing.[video_embed id='1947230']Canadian stars pay tribute to frontline workers during special[/video_embed]The results from the first ever four-way Knockout Round were revealed and Team Nick’s Michael Williams secured the 17th and final spot for The‘Lives. But The At-Homes? The Playoffs? We’ll stick to the Playoffs. All 17 final contestants performed during Monday’s packed show and this week the competition is moving back to its bi-weekly schedule, with the results show airing Tuesday night.

THUNDERSTORM ARTIS – TEAM NICK

We haven’t heard a lot of whistling on The Voice, but we also haven’t heard an artist that sounds like Thunderstorm Artis. His former coach John Legend called Thunderstorm mesmerizing and Nick used his at-home Nick Note’s journal to write down that he felt the whistling was the perfect way to joyfully kick off the live show. BRB, gotta watch YouTube videos on How To Whistle.

ZAN FISKUMS – TEAM LEGEND

Zan blew the roof off her tiny home with her stunning rendition of “Blowin In The Wind,” completely reimagining the song into a hopeful and whimsical piece. “You have such artistry, such a gift and such a journey you took us on,” added Coach John. Noting that everything felt purposeful and intentional, John wasn’t the only fan of Zan’s. Kelly doubled down on the compliments and called Zan’s performance the best version of “Blowin’ In The Wind” she’s ever heard. Sorry, Bob Dylan.

MANDI CASTILLO – TEAM LEGEND

Mandi Castillo has been one of the most consistent singers this season and continued to bring her effortless power to Monday’s performance of "¡Corre!" Never missing a note, Mandi’s performance was seeped in intimacy and vulnerability from start to finish and should be more than enough to land her securely in the Top 9. Nueve.

CAMMWESS, TEAM LEGEND

CammWess’ performance of Bill Wither’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” gave us low notes we could feel in our bones, a falsetto that got us out of our seats and enough sex appeal to make this song a must-download. “You nailed it,” said John, who called CammWess’ tone "honey butter." John Legend is an EGOT winner married to a bestselling cookbook author and the unofficial Mayor of Twitter, so that’s literally the best compliment you can get from him.

MEGAN DANIELLE – TEAM KELLY

Every time Megan Danielle gets on stage, be it in a studio or a living room, we learn something new about her shockingly mature voice. On Monday, Megan’s rendition of Demi Lovato’s personal “Anyone” provided the opportunity for the deep and beautifully weathered grit in her the teen singer’s voice come through. Megan didn’t write the song, but you could have fooled us.

TODD TILGHMAN – TEAM BLAKE

Todd Tilghman’s voice is so good that it easily lands him on the "best of" list even though he sang Peter Cetera’s “Glory of Love.” There’s really no making that song cool.
