Canada’s Drag Race (Thursdays at 9pET on Crave) is off to the races, with drag fans all over the world watching our Canadian queens werk and this week was a special treat (snack?) for those who grew up in the '90s and have fond memories of the Heritage Minutes that were a TV staple. But first, ballet!

Plié, jeté, sashay, shante!

We can’t think of anything more nerve-wracking than attempting to do ballet in front of Brooke Lynn Hytes, a classically-trained ballet dancer, ICYMI. But that’s what the mini-challenge had the queens do this week. First, they had to get into ballerina quick drag and dance in a naughty and nice Nutcracker-inspired routine. (Think the drag version of The Nutcracker meets Black Swan meets Hustlers.) While some, like Lemon and Kiara, showed off their dancing prowess, others went the comedy route. BOA hammed it as a Honey Boo Boo-style character, while Priyanka showed everyone she knows how to, ahem, finish strong. Anastarzia (who hilariously mimed kangaroo punches) and Boa won the mini-challenge, which, along with bragging rights comes the always drama-inducing task of choosing teammates for the Maxi challenge.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Juice Boxx spills the tea on her 'Canada's Drag Race' exit[/video_embed]

A part of our Her–itage

If you grew up in Canada in the '90s and had cable, chances are you can quote at least three Heritage Minutes, the often-memed 60-second history lessons that aired during commercial breaks. These classic TV spots were the basis for the skits each team had to act out, with BOA’s troupe assigned to play  the “Muffragettes” while Anastarzia’s team took on the legendary “burnt toast” Heritage Minute. While Brooke Lynn did her walkthrough, she addressed Kyne’s defensive reaction to her critiques last week and when Kyne told the Queen of the North that she forgives her, jaws dropped! It was basically the Canadian version of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7 queen Pearl asking RuPaul if there was something on her face. It seems Brooke Lynn and Kyne are on good terms now, as Brooke Lynn tweeted in support of the Kitchener queen after she received some online backlash. Shooting the skits proved tricky for both teams, as both BOA and Tynomi Banks struggled with their lines. The teams manage to pull it off as the finished products deliver the campy Canadiana we all need to get through 2020.While the queens prepared for the runway, Anastarzia Anaquway shared her heartbreaking story of coming to Canada as a refugee following the violence she experienced because of her sexuality in the Bahamas, including being the target of a shooting. It was touching to see all the queens support her in a group hug.

Second time’s the charm

The queens got the chance to redo their first drag looks ever, for the Canada's Drag Race runway no less, with guest host Jade Hassouné joining the panel. It was a great way to see how the queens have grown since their often-humble beginnings. Anastarzia gave us the fierce pageant walk we would expect from the winner of multiple titles, while Bobo literally swallowed fire and Jimbo’s demented zombie cheerleader came with detachable pigtails that tickled the judges.Lemon took the lemons she got last week and made proper lemonade, emerging as the winner thanks to her standout acting and gorgeous structural gown.Tynomi landed in the bottom two thanks to a combination of her hesitant and lacklustre performance in the Her-itage Moment skit and the fact that the judges were unimpressed with her Kim Kardashian if she were really into Dungeons and Dragons look. Kyne landed in the bottom for a second time, as she faded into the background in the "Burnt Tuck" sketch and underwhelmed with her Ursula look, with the judges admitting they preferred the makeup and hair from her before picture. The shade.During the lip-sync to a '90s house cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read my Mind,” (YES. That song is a GL original; we checked!) Kyne channeled her fiery determination into her lip sync, delivering a passionate rendition of the breakup anthem, while Tynomi stayed true to her fashion model inspirations, voguing and posing in sync with the rhythm. Ultimately, Kyne was sent home, but not before showing a softer side by comforting a tearful Tynomi. The Kitchener queen left with her head held high, and in her own words "a big slice of humble pie."The race continues next week as the queens team up as competing girl groups.New episodes of Canada’s Drag Race drop on Thursdays at 9p ET on Crave.[video_embed id='1993433']RELATED: 'Canada's Drag Race' star Kyne is staying unapologetically true to herself[/video_embed]
