Canada’s Drag Race guest host Elisha Cuthbert reunited with her Happy Endings castmates Zachary Knighton, Damon Wayans Jr., Eliza Coupe, Adam Pally and Casey Wilson for a virtual in-character reunion that served as a new episode meant to raise funds for two causes: World Central Kitchen (which provides meals to victims of natural disasters) and Color of Change (a U.S. civil rights advocacy organization). The reunion, filmed virtually from each of the actor’s homes, raised $25,000 to date. The six-way call was inspired by previous reunions staged by shows like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation and was, in a word, ahmazing.Kicking off with an inventory of facial hair (much to Dave’s chagrin everyone is rocking a goatee these days) the episode caught up Happy Endings fans with what their favourites have been doing since the onset of the pandemic (or “pandemmy” if you’re Penny Hartz). Jane is clearly prepared, rocking a hazmat-chique lewk and boiling all of her mail. Her husband Brad, however, is not with her. He’s been forever-tining in Florida following a business trip… or so he’d have her believe.Penny is engaged and desperate for everyone to know it (check out Casey Wilson’s real-life hubby, show creator David Caspe, in the photos she keeps finding a reason to show off) and Alex has a baby and an addiction to fake news. Max... is high (he hamster-panicked and ate all his COVID rations leaving him with only edibles to subsist on).
As for Dave, he’s been living a blissfully ignorant corona-free life (unless you count the beer) on a tech-less desert retreat in a nod to what happened to Jared Leto IRL. The crew are forced to burst more than one of Dave's bubbles when they break the news of the pandemic to him. Turns out ‘Covid 19’ isn’t going to fly as the name of his latest high-concept restaurant. For a moment, it seems like he’s the winner in the contest to see who’s sunk to their personal low, but then Penny takes the lead with another romance mishap. Cue the sizzle reel of Penny's failed relationships.[video_embed id='1986943']RELATED: Inside Elisha Cuthbert's guest appearance on 'Canada's Drag Race'[/video_embed]After the socially-distanced special wrapped up, moderator Damian Holbrook lead the cast and Caspe in a Q&A in which they discussed which food gags on the show made them legit gag, what they took from the set (the show ran on ABC for three seasons from 2011-2013) and what it would take for them to all come together for more Happy Endings, once it’s safe to do so. Turns out, not much.“Everybody wants to do it,” Caspe said as his cast backed him up. “Everybody is sort of in a different place as far as getting everybody together, making it work business-wise for all these different companies. I know we’re all willing and want to do it. I know it’d be fun. Yeah, we want to do it, man.”Here's hoping it doesn't take a global pandemic before fans get another fresh dose of the fast-talking sextet.[video_embed id='1991285'RELATED: Tom Hanks has a blunt message for people who don't wear a mask[/video_embed]
