Dave Chappelle is returning to his post-election hosting duties for
Saturday Night Live following the 2020 election. If you think you're having déjà vu, don't worry! Chappelle hosted the first installment of
SNL after the 2016 election too.Even though the winner of the 2020 presidential election is still undecided,
SNL is still going ahead setting the stage for their post-election episode and NBC has confirmed that rock band Foo Fighters will join Chappelle on November 7th as musical guests. This will mark the eighth time that Foo Fighters take the
SNL stage as the musical guests. The band is currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled album which makes this a very special occasion.[video_embed id='2069707']RELATED: Kanye concedes presidential race, will run again in 2024[/video_embed]The band tweeted about their upcoming appearance, writing, "See you this weekend Chappelle!"
Chapelle won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance on
SNL in 2016. “I haven’t seen white people this mad since the O.J. [Simpson] verdict,” the comedian said during his 2016 monologue. He added that he was "wishing Donald Trump luck" after his victory against Hillary Clinton. The comedian faced backlash for saying that he was going to give Trump a chance, adding, “And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.” He apologized for his comments six months later during his set at the Robin Hood Gala in New York City in May 2017. “I was the first guy on TV to say ‘Give Trump a chance,’” he told the crowd. “I f**ked up. Sorry.”
We're hoping that Chappelle and Foo Fighters can make us laugh about this very stressful situation across the border on Saturday night. The post-election episode airs Nov. 7 at 11:30 p.m. ET, four days after the election.
