This week’s new episode of World of Dance (Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on CTV) brought an end to the Duels, which means from here on out, every level of the competition left has the word ‘finals’ in it. Tuesday’s episode completed the list of Junior Division dancers moving into the semi-finals, which meant judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo had to deliver both wonderful and devastating news to very talented and very young dancers.Guest judge tWitch was back on Tuesday for his final episode because now that he’s crushed the dreams of children he must go into hiding. J.K., but seriously, poor tWitch. The guest judge chose James and Harris and The Young Cast to perform in the Redemption Round, giving them another chance at the Semi-Finals. Yay! But that meant tWitch had to let down the other Junior dancers who didn’t win their battles. The worst. “I’m glad you had to do that, not us,” said Lopez. Same, J Lo.The semi-finals kick off next week, which means it’s finally time to see the World of Dance stage. Expect some impressive light displays.[video_embed id='5452318141001']RELATED: Marci and Lainey try out a signature ‘World of Dance’ move[/video_embed]

BAILEY AND KIDA VS. JAMES AND HARRIS

Bailey and Kida are the best-known dancers this season thanks to their massive social media followings and impressive resumes, but the pair are still new to each other. Their Qualifying performance got them through to the Duels based on sheer talent, but the duo were lacking in chemistry. On Tuesday, Bailey and Kida proved they found their groove together, giving a masterclass in isolation. Their performance gave J Lo her famous Goosies and left Ne-Yo without any critiques, commenting that every part of their bodies had its own brain. tWitch called the pair ‘architects of sound.’ “We could see what the music looked like by how clearly your bodies were moving,” said tWitch. What Bailey and Kida lacked in chemistry, bffs James and Harris made up for in spades. The duo brought a hard hitting routine to the Duels, landing jumps and stalls that displayed their incredible athleticism and grace. The pair had a few moments that were just a fraction out of time with each other, but at this point in the competition, a fraction can make or break a routine. Ne-Yo wanted James and Harris to push harder and leap further, a critique Derek expressly disagreed with, listing the several instances that the pair took flight. Even with their disagreement, both men voted for Bailey and Kida, with Lopez casting the only vote for James and Harris.

KEAGAN CAPPS VS. MADDY PENNEY

Keagan broke hearts and backs with her emotional routine to Philip Glass’ version of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” The young dancer displayed her incredible flexibility and strength while also delivering a routine that was wrought with pain and feeling. J Lo and tWitch commended Keagan on her visceral performance, while Derek cautioned her to include more traditional dancing between her contortion moves for future routines.Maddy Penney brought more personality to the Duels than she showed in her Qualifying performance, but her routine on Tuesday was not as strong as her prior appearance. Combining ballet, contemporary and Latin dance, Maddy’s routine felt like it had a lot of buildup without a strong finish.WINNER: Keagan Capps

REDEMPTION ROUND – THE YOUNG CAST VS. JAMES AND HARRIS

How do you judge a large dance crew performing to James Brown while wearing silk karate costumes against a contemporary duo doing a tongue and cheek routine to Post Malone? It’s a real apples to oranges situation. The creative and crisply choreographed Canucks (that took a while) showed their incredible precision with a routine that felt like it was taken straight out of an episode of Soul Train. The Young Cast and their synchronized hand choreo is unparalleled and their energy is infectious. The highly trained group doesn’t always give themselves enough space to groove, but hopefully they can build that into their performance when they move onto the main stage in the semi-finals. Oh Canada!WINNER: The Young Cast
