It’s been two months since the fall finale of Grey’s Anatomy (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CTV) and such a highly-anticipated return meant audiences were greeted to a double-sized episode. Grey’s delivered with a crossover event that began with a new episode of Station 19 that—amazingly—resulted in no major character deaths (phew). Following the fall finale cliffhanger of Grey’s, that included a car driving into Joe’s bar, viewers finally got to see who from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and Station 19 survived. After the firefighters fought to free interns, as well as their own Lieutenant Herrera (Miguel Sandoval) and Ben Warren (Jason George), the victims were delivered to the hospital to be saved by their own colleagues.Thursday’s episode didn’t shed much light on the future of Alex Karev (aka Justin Chambers), but it did deliver one shocking moment after another and enough carnage and bloody footage to make up for the two months it was off the air. With so much action packed into one episode, we’re breaking down the biggest moments for all the characters.

JO AND MCWIDOW

Jo (Camila Luddington) returned the baby she helped rescue/semi-kidnap and got some one-on-one time with Alex’s replacement, Dr. Cormac Hayes/McWidow (Richard Flood). Ironically, Dr. Hayes is the person replacing the doctor who pulled an Irish exit. It’s unclear whether McWidow’s replacement role extends beyond the Pediatric Ward and into Jo’s love life. Alex isn’t coming back from Iowa, so what’s the game plan? Is Cristina’s gift for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) going to be regifted to Jo? She does like tough guys who like babies—we all have our types.

THE INTERNS

It took a literal car crash for the viewers and the interns themselves to learn one another’s first names.  Almost all the interns were injured in the crash at Joe’s Bar, which left Helm (Taryn–who knew?) professing her love for Meredith Grey on her deathbed, Parker (Casey) suffering from PTSD, Simms (Blake, met him once?) with his face being temporarily removed and Brody (Hannah—has she ever been in an episode?) with a few cuts. Poor Schmitt (Jake Borelli) appeared okay, but his person is Helm and she was mad at him, which caused Schmitt to pass out from a literal broken heart. Literally. Meredith finally forgave Schmitt for accidentally getting her fired, but it would have been nice for her to make the announcement more publicly. Again, the guy had a literal broken heart.[video_embed id='1882899']RELATED: Grey's Anatomy' and 'Station 19' are crossing over[/video_embed]

AMELIA AND LINK

Speaking of names we’ve forgotten, Link’s (Chris Carmack) first name is Atticus and he wants to keep the To Kill A Mockingbird theme going and name his son Scout. Let’s hope that Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) tells Link the kid isn’t his before he goes with his favourite baby name.

OWEN AND TEDDY

It feels like everyone is giving Owen (Kevin McKidd) way too much credit for not proposing to Teddy (Kim Raver) and assuming his indecisiveness is part of past trauma. It’s not. It’s because he’s never treated Teddy well. The trauma is all hers. Teddy, give Owen back the ring and run, don’t walk, to Dr. Tommy (Greg Germann).[video_embed id='1789625']RELATED: 'Grey's Anatomy' stars disclose their off-screen medical skills[/video_embed]

 MEREDITH AND ANDREW

Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) knows he messed up with Meredith and Meredith was scared Andrew was killed by the flying car, so maybe he still has a chance.

MIRANDA, BEN AND RICHARD

Miranda (Chandra Wilson) had about five minutes to process the trauma of her miscarriage before the ambulances carrying all of her interns arrived. Thankfully, Ben (Jason George) and Richard (James Pickens Jr.) were both on-hand to support her, with Richard taking over for Miranda when she froze in the middle of Helm’s surgery. Seeing the end of the pair’s friendship at Meredith’s trial was heartbreaking and the only silver lining in Miranda’s unimaginable loss is that it was the catalyst for bringing the two together again.

JACKSON

Aside from sewing a resident’s face back on, pressuring Owen to propose and being mean to Tom, Jackson was relatively quiet this week.

MAGGIE

After meeting her cousin Sabrina and then performing a risky surgery that resulted in her long-lost cousin’s death, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) quit Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. They say when one door closes, another opens. Unfortunately for Maggie, she opened the door and was served a wrongful death notice. This isn’t going to make Maggie want to get back to work anytime soon.Watch new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on CTV and catch up online anytime at CTV.ca.[video_embed id='1881354']Jason Momoa proves he's a real life superhero[/video_embed]
