‘The Bachelor’ just dropped its first sneak peek at Matt James’ season

Every time a Bachelorette contestant mistreats, lies to, or jerks around on the show this season, the running gag on Twitter is, “You know who wouldn’t behave like this?” along with a picture of Matt James. Pretty soon we’re going to find out if those assumptions are true, as The Bachelor just dropped the first sneak peek at his turn as the lucky man looking for the woman of his dreams.On Tuesday night, ABC rolled the teaser for The Bachelor’s 25^th season starring Matt James, which will premiere on January 4^th. It’s decidedly very light on spoilers, but from what we can tell, the women are falling for him. No, literally. As the women contestants emerge one by one from the limousine (ahh, we love those limo intros! Espesh when there’s an emotional support cow!), one woman trips on a step and literally falls into his arms. C’est l’amour!

Set to the tune of “Whatta Man” by Salt-N-Pepa ft. En Vogue, we get glimpses of some steamy hot tub make-out seshes, Matt walking around with his shirt off (yaaas!), women fanning themselves down from all the hotness, women side-eyeing each other, and, of course, lots and lots o’ tears. It wouldn’t be The Bachelor unless the mascara was running!Probably the most revealing tidbit in the teaser is host Chris Harrison asking, “You’ve never been in love?” to which Matt responds, “I haven’t.” We sincerely hope his season changes all of that, because dang that man is fine deserves love.[video_embed id='1977727']RELATED: Will the casting of the first Black Bachelor create meaningful change? [/video_embed]Long-time Bachelor fans might remember that Matt was first introduced to Bachelor Nation as the best friend of former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron. Earlier this year, he was announced as one of the men to be a contestant on Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette, but in an unprecedented move, he was pulled from the cast before filming began to prep for the his role as the new Bachelor. Reports say he began filming this new season back in September.

Tyler himself has actually spoken a bit about Matt’s time as The Bachelor. Speaking on the Chicks in the Office podcast, Tyler said that he had seen Matt recently, which many believe is a hint that Tyler will pop up during the season. “You know he cares about how he’s going to be portrayed and how he’s gonna look [on TV] and so I was like, ‘Are we gonna get robot Matt? Or are we gonna get Matt Matt?’” Tyler said during his interview. “Cause I talked to some of the people, like, the stylists [and] just asking everyone about, like ‘How’s Matt?’ And they’re like, ‘Matt’s great. But all he does is eat salads and salmon.’ I’m like, 'That’s not the Matt I know!'”“We are going to get a full dose of Matt,” he continued. “He’s gonna have fun, he’s gonna be very vulnerable, he’s gonna open himself up. We’re gonna learn—I’m gonna learn so much about Matt. This is gonna be good, it’ll be good for him.”
