The arrival of new Islanders breaks up one of the original couples on ‘Love Island’

Sadly, not every 'Love Island' relationship is built to last.

It was Sunday fun day on Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9ET on CTV), but not everyone was having a good time. Well, at least not the Islanders—viewers have been waiting for this level of drama. Friday’s arrival of new Islanders Calvin and Caleb took no time in breaking one of the villa's OG couples (broken heart emoji), while the rest of the Islanders move forward with their own relationships. Plus, Mackenzie delivered some lessons in feminism to James, taking him to school on a weekend. The best teachers never take a day off.

THE UNCOUPLING

A relationship that took five days to build unraveled in about five minutes after Moira spent an hour on a date with Calvin. Timing is everything. When James began pressuring Moira to tell him everything about the date (not to be confused with the week before when he was pressuring her to sleep with him), Moira asked for space. Instead of listening, James did the opposite and upped his efforts. He decided to kill them with kindness, with the "them" being Calvin. Moira was not impressed, giving the censors on Love Island the first verbal blur of the season when she told James to “Chill the f*** out.” James did not “Chill the f*** out” and proceeded to push Moira further away with his words until they were literally in separate beds. We knew there was a bigger bed budget.[video_embed id='2024435']ICYMI: Islanders pick sides as a recoupling ceremony looms [/video_embed]

THE BOOK OF JAMES

On last week’s episode, Mackenzie said that James was already at the end of the book in his relationship with Moira, while Moira was on the first chapter. On Sunday night, Tre said “If you could write a book on what not to do, James did that.” It’s still unclear how this "choose your own adventure" novel will end, but it’s not looking like a fairy tale.

PROFESSOR MACKENIZE

After James’ repeated attempts to talk to Moira, who very obviously did not want to speak to him, he announced he would deliver the drama, declared there was something wrong with Moira, and shouted to no one in particular that he was "done with Moira." Since yelling at the TV rarely delivers the outcome viewers hope for, Mackenzie stepped in and delivered the much-needed verbal smackdown. “I don’t know why guys think it’s acceptable to say, ‘He can have her.’ She can do whatever she wants. It’s her decision,” said Mackenzie. Um, hell yes, Mackenzie. “I can guarantee it’s not because he took her. It’s because she left.” Consider the mic (removed from its necklace and) dropped.

LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE

Although most of the episode was centered around James and Moira and Moira’s single body-roll induced knee sprain (note to self: getting injured is a great way to make the most of living with six fitness trainers), there were more developments in the villa on Sunday night. To recap:
  • Kierstan may be interested in Caleb.
  • Caleb is interested in Justine.
  • Things are going well with Tre and Justine, but now Justine is interested in Caleb.
  • Rachel is opening to talking to other people, but Jeremiah learned from James’ mistakes and remained both cool and shirtless while receiving this news. Well played, Jeremiah.
  • Kierstan’s deepest darkest fear is the ocean. Good thing she's on this land-locked season of Love Island instead of literally any other season.
