The teams went from performing stunts in a Kazakhstan studio to real-life dramatics in India on the latest installment of The Amazing Race (Wednesdays, 7 p.m. ET on CTV). There, some teams let their inner mean girls fly… especially in the wake of faltering alliances and the first ever Mega Leg, which was packed with enough challenges to leave those watching at home just as exhausted as the racers.

The Boyfriends Have Had Enough

It was a jam-packed, two-hour installment as super fans Will & James really began questioning the self-named Mine Five alliance and who within it they most wanted to see in the finals. Which makes sense, given the stress and adrenaline rush that comes from basically performing twice the number of usual leg challenges while racing through the bustling streets of India for a million bucks. Anyhow, they quickly declared that Hung & Chee and Riley & Maddison are who they want to race with until the end, a feeling that seems to be pretty mutual. Everyone has had it with DeAngelo & Gary piggybacking on everyone else’s answers (not to mention stealing taxis), while Eswar & Aparna seem to be mostly sticking to themselves. Is it logical for the three teams with the most first-place finishes to want to go to the finals together? Not from a strategic standpoint, but there you have it.With that decided, the top three began keeping their clues to themselves. The Bearded Bros and The Boyfriends still worked together, sure. But they left The Footballers out in the cold—especially during the night’s last task, which involved intricate place-settings and a ruler twist that Riley quickly figured out and shared with James but not Gary. In fact, he didn’t just not share the ruler trick with Gary, but he hid the instrument from him whenever he entered the room. Alliances schmalliances, y’all. And to think if it weren’t for Gary, The Boyfriends may still be stuck at that virtual reality challenge. Regardless, it was a sly move that paid off for Riley & Maddison for now, because their slow-and-steady approach landed them a first-place finish (not to mention a seven-day Caribbean cruise). That’s probably enough of a prize to also not feel too bad about their participating in the ousting of the last remaining, non-Mine Five alliance team, Kaylynn & Haley.[video_embed id='2084795']MORE TV NEWS: The Cast of ‘Veep’ to reunite for a political fundraiser [/video_embed]

The Sisters Finally Run Out of Their Very Selective Luck

The sisters totally had nine lives in this race, but at the same time they also had the worst luck of all the teams this season. Every single taxi they snagged somehow got them lost, including the one they landed in India. Right away they were way behind the rest of the pack, so even though Hung & Chee switched from the coding Detour to the food delivery one, the parents still arrived at the challenge before the sisters. As if that bad luck wasn’t enough to push them down, Kaylynn & Haley also became the target of the Mine Five’s external mean girls antics. Will & James quickly declared they were going to use their Yield against the sisters when the time came, and yield them they did. Before they could enter the virtual reality Roadblock they had to wait out a 20 minute penalty, which put them even more behind. Were they bummed? Of course. Did they lose their positive attitude, fight, cry, or react in any of the number of ways that probably any other team would? Not in the slightest. They sat down and chatted, because at that point what were they really supposed to do about it anyhow?Fast forward to the night’s second Yield opportunity, which the Bearded Bros took full advantage of by stopping the sisters again. Even though they were well behind everyone else at that point, all hope of actually catching up was officially killed with that yield. Sure enough Hung & Chee and Eswar & Aparna stepped onto the mat just as the sisters were waiting out the last few minutes of their penalty. And this time, when the blondes finally did arrived at the mat, Phil Keoghan had to eliminate them.Did they cry? Were they angry? Did they blast the other teams for their behaviour? Not really. The closest they came was when Phil asked them how they felt about being targeted. “They have a name?” they said of the Mine Five before laughing again. Obviously they were bummed to have been eliminated, but their positive attitudes and ability to stay cool no matter what the situation—every single time—has been pretty admirable. They’ll for sure be missed, but now the real fun will be in seeing how this alliance comes apart at the seams as they turn on one another. Because now it’s do or die, and there are no more external teams to target.Watch it all unfold next week, as the teams head to Cambodia.
