Actor Jeremy Strong, dressed like a Victorian-era shopkeeper (in the best way), snagged a major award at the Emmys on Sunday night, appearing on screen to give an emotional acceptance speech in which he called his role in HBO’s hit corporate family dynasty drama the part of a lifetime. This, before the series took home the biggest and final award of the evening."Thank you to the academy, thank you to HBO,” said Strong. “Wow. I gotta thank some people who have been there for me and believed in me when something like this felt basically impossible… I read a poem,” he continued, “that said, 'All I ever wanted was a book so good I'd be finishing it for the rest of my life.' This job is that for me."[video_embed id='-1']Jeremy Strong wins Outanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series[/video_embed]Strong went on to thank series creator Jesse Armstrong, who also won an Emmy for writing the ‘This Is Not for Tears’ episode in Succession’s second season (no word on whether or not he was also the man behind the lyrics in Kendall’s infamous rap).“I owe this to you,” said Strong before telling his co-star Brian Cox — who was nominated in the same category — ”I share this with you. Thank you so much."[video_embed id='-1']'Succession' wins Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series at the Emmys[/video_embed]Succession’s streak of wins actually began last week when Cherry Jones won an Emmy for her stint as Harriet Walter in the Guest Actress, Drama category. Armstrong once again took the mic for a unique “unthank you” speech directed at the pandemic, nationalism, and its cheerleaders, Donald Trump and Boris Johnson.
