*Stares blankly into the void* Okay guys, it’s been a bit of a week. After that debate, with the news of Donald Trump’s positive COVID test, infections on the rise, and economies tanking, if you’ve made it all the way to Friday without throwing your laptop out the window, congratulations! You’ve won half the battle! You deserve a laugh. A joke! A Friday giggle; because there are still things worth laughing about in this world and you deserve to have a good start to your weekend. And luckily, Jim Carrey has gotcha back. The Canadian funny-boy will be returning to Saturday Night Live this weekend, and even with just this first sneak-peek, hoo-boy, we are loving it. We see him strapping into a white-haired wig and lacing his Chuck Taylors while SNL-alum, our Queen, our saviour, our recent Emmy-winner Maya Rudolph fixes her own flowing wig atop her glorious head. Together they make SNL's Democratic ticket: former-VP Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris. Honestly, we don’t deserve Maya Rudolph. Even Senator Kamala Harris herself was like, “Yaaaaaaaas! Play me, Queen!” (We’re loosely quoting her here.) We think we can say without hyperbole that the season premiere of SNL this Saturday is going to be hella-funny (it will also be hosted by Chris Rock and have Megan Thee Stallion as musical guest BTW). While we anxiously await the sketches and bits Carrey, Rudolph and the rest of the cast have in store for us, the hosts of SNL’s "Weekend Update," Colin Johansson Jost and Michael Che, surprised former "Weekend Update" host and current The Tonight Show (weeknights at 11:35pET on CTV2) king Jimmy Fallon on his show to give us a little taste of the news-related jokes they have in store.[video_embed id='2043240']RELATED: Chris Rock to host the 'SNL' season 46 premiere [/video_embed]Jimmy, who’s back in studio with only his crew for an audience, was testing out a joke about a man swimming in the fish tank at a Bass Pro Shop, when the two funny men ambushed him and challenged him to a joke off. Now, there isn't a comedian alive that would say no to a joke-off.
“Police in Louisiana arrested a man after he went swimming in the aquarium at a Bass Pros Shops,” Jimmy set up the joke, with Colin buzzing in with the punchline, “Weirdly he was charged with being too sober for a guy at a Bass Pro Shops.”*Swish*“The guy wasn’t in jail for very long, it was more a catch and release,” Che chimed in.“Even worse, he wore his face mask as a banana hammock!” Jimmy joked.Yes!
