Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne reunite for comedy series 'Platonic'

Canadian actor Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are reuniting again — but this time they'll be playing friends instead of a married couple who attempt to have Zac Effron move out of the frat house next door.Former Neighbors co-stars Rogen and Byrne are set to star in the forthcoming Apple TV+ comedy series, Platonic. If you didn't guess it already by the title, the series will explore "the inner workings of platonic friendship" between a pair of adult friends.According to the press release, the series will follow a pair of former best friends who met in their youth, played by Byrne and Rogen, "who reconnect as adults and try to mend the rift that led to their falling out. As their friendship becomes more consuming, it destabilizes their lives and causes them to reevaluate their choices."Nick Stoller, who directed Neighbors and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, co-wrote the series and will also direct and executive producer alongside Francesca Delbanco, who co-created the Netflix series Friends From College.[video_embed id='6031952738001']RELATED: How Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg went from teenage besties to Hollywood staples[/video_embed]Rogen and Byrne will also executive produce the new series along with Conor Welch. The new series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and will play out over the course of 10 episodes, clocking in at 30 minutes in length.This will be the second Apple TV+ project for Byrne. The Bridesmaids actress is will also star in the upcoming comedy series Physical, set in the ’80s and focuses on a Southern California housewife who discovers the empowering world of aerobics.Byrne and Rogen played a married couple who had to become frenemies with the frat and sorority leaders living next door in both Neighbors films. Efron, Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jerrod Carmichael, Ike Barinholtz, Carla Gallo, Hannibal Buress, and Lisa Kudrow reprised their roles for the sequel in 2016 which starred Chloë Grace Moretz as the sorority leader.With the way that 2020 is going, a Neighbors reunion is exactly what we all need.
