Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause was almost the Bachelorette

Can we steal you for a sec? Because this news that Chrishell Stause (that’s Stause, not Strausse) once came close to being the Bachelorette has us feeling vulnerable, and we really want to open up about it. The Selling Sunset star, who was at the centre of multiple dramas during the reality show’s most recent season (her war with Christine, her sudden, shocking divorce from This Is Us star Justin Hartley), was nearly the one pinning boutonnieres on eligible gentlemen on rose ceremony night. Can we just say: there’s still time, Chris Harrison? Especially now that Chrishell has re-entered the dating scene.The news comes via ex-Bachelor Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files. In a recent episode, Viall hosted ABC network exec Robert Mills, who recalled having a meeting with Stause about her Bachelorette potential. “She would never remember this, but I had lunch with Chrishell — this was about 10 or 11 years ago — to talk about being the Bachelorette. We didn’t know who it was going to be, so we were looking for people and our casting director said, ‘Oh, you should meet with this girl Chrishell Stause, she’s amazing.’” recalled Mills. “And we had this incredible lunch, I think it was at the Beverly Hills Hotel and just, she was awesome. I was convinced, I’m like, ‘This is the Bachelorette.'”Other ABC network power players had different ideas, however. Namely: Ellen Degeneres, who was a big fan of Season 11 Bachelor contestant DeAnna Pappas (one of Brad Womack’s final women). “I remember Ellen DeGeneres actually calling the president of ABC at the time, saying, ‘This woman needs to be the Bachelorette,” said Mills. “This was before we even said we were going to do a Bachelorette. At that point, it was like, how do we not do that?”Instead, Stause went on to become the sweet ‘girl next door’ type on Selling Sunset (for as long as a human being can maintain that kind of persona in the world of Los Angeles real estate, anyway) while also landing a stint on Dancing With the Stars, where the Oppenheim Group agent found her own talk show host fan: John Oliver.
