You guys, Selena Gomez is back. Following a bit of a social media break, fans were delighted over news that the "Kill Em With Kindness" singer was set to grace our screens once again through the lens of a new cooking show, aptly titled Selena + Chef. She's also recently treated fans to a quarantine-esq music video for "Past Life" with Trevor Daniel. But if you thought that’s all she had up her sleeve, think again. Gomez is making her official return to the small screen — a comedy series, to be precise. The singer has signed on to star in Only Murderers In The Building, a Hulu comedy which “follows three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.” She'll star alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short (quite the unexpected grouping, don’t you think?) and boasts a talented team behind the scenes, including John Hoffman, the creative mind behind Grace and Frankie. Even better, Gomez isn’t just starring in the series — she’s also executive producing it alongside her co-stars, Hoffman, and This is Us creators Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. As fans might recall, this isn't Gomez’s first (production) rodeo, the cult-hit, 13 Reasons Why, as well as the Netflix docu-series Living Undocumented as just a few titles she's produced.Hulu hasn’t given away too many details about the straight-to-series show yet, but did share that Gomez and her co-stars will be playing three New Yorkers who dedicate their "sleuthing" efforts exclusively to murders in their building. Considering we’ve all been cooped up in our own buildings for months, it feels like this could hit close to home — literally (minus any murderous neighbours, hopefully). It’s really special, surprisingly emotional. It’s really modern and self-referential about podcasts and murders, it’s got some great surprises. When they pull this off, it’s going to be really special.” Notably, Gomez’s role in Only Murderers In The Building will mark her first (regular) small screen role since Wizards of Waverly Place. Brace yourselves, we’re about to be seeing a lot more of Gomez (and we are here for it). [video_embed id='1982710']WATCH: First trailer for Selena Gomez-produced rom-com is here[/video_embed]
