Attention Islanders, Season 2 of Love Island is a go! Your favourite steamy, dating-reality-competition show from 2019 is coming back to CTV in a very sanitized way and we are not speaking metaphorically. There will be hand sanitizer stations and several other precautions taken as the show is set to resume production. But don’t worry, the bikinis, board shorts and barely-there frosting on the glass shower will (hopefully) be back. The previously-delayed second season of the North American version of Love Island will move forward this year under strict safety measures with Vulture reporting that CBS and ITV have found a way to keep the sexy show going by swapping a sunny island for an empty Sin City hotel. It’s sunny in Vegas, too.Not many details about production have been made available, but it seems shooting will take place at the boutique hotel Cromwell, which falls under the Caesars Entertainment corporation. The hotel has been closed for months and presents a workable space to allow for everyone involved in filming to isolate in a bubble. Contestants and crew members will be quarantined prior to the start of filming and crew members will work in pods to help limit interaction between themselves and contestants. Cast and crew members will be given COVID-19 tests before and during production, all according to Vulture's post.[video_embed id='1748878']RELATED: Eric spills the tea on his Love Island experience[/video_embed]It's unclear whether casting for the second season has begun, but with travel restrictions in place for much of the U.S., it’s likely that most of the contestants will be from the West Coast. Toronto’s Eric Hall was the sole Canadian contestant on last summer’s show and as the border between Canada and the U.S. remains closed, it remains to be seen if the North will be represented. One thing we do know about the second season is that the hilarious Matthew Hoffman will be returning for voiceover duties. Abs and butts are cool, but Hoffman was the true breakout star of last season. Vulture is also reporting that the second season is expected to premiere by the end of the summer. For those who have lost all concept of time this year, we are currently in July.Love Island will likely be looking to other productions that have begun operating in the time of coronavirus for steps on how to keep all those involved safe. Big budget films like Jurassic Park: Dominion has resumed filming with the addition of strict healthcare and physical distancing measures in place; CBS and ABC have restarted filming on soap operas like The Bold and The Beautiful; sports leagues like the NBA, WNBA, MLB and NHL are all currently running with players and staff living in bubbles with varying degrees of success. Big Brother is also expected to begin filming soon and TMZ is reporting that crew members will isolate in trailers set up next to the Big Brother house.[video_embed id='2000025']RELATED: Bold and the Beautiful' returns with new episodes, and a new Canadian star[/video_embed]Following the massive success of Love Island in the U.K, the tamer North American version of the series debuted last June but followed the same premise: a group of young and attractive (cis, heterosexual) singles live together in a large house and hook up, compete in a series of challenges and hope to find love and eventually walk away with $1 million after fan votes determine the frontrunners. ICYMI, the inaugural winners were Zac and Elizabeth, aka Zacbeth, and you can relive all the Love Island passion right now on Crave.
