We’re back with a new season of The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2) and a new host who is here to shake up the competition and bring in the tween viewers. Sitting in the coach’s chair for the first time is the ever-so-dreamy Nick Jonas, who made his coaching debut on Monday’s episode alongside returning faces Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. Time to bring down the median viewing age of The Voice and get Camp Rock 2 the respect it deserves.Host Carson Daly also returned on Monday night for another season of being the best family hype man in show business, helping moms, dads, and generically labelled ‘friends and family’ completely lose their cool on national television. Carson Daly is a treasure and should be treated as such.[video_embed id='1907610']RELATED: What to expect when Nick Jonas joins the 'The Voice' family[/video_embed]Night one of the Blind Auditions showed the OG coaches wasting no time when it came to hilariously hazing Jonas, mocking the singer’s good looks, young age, and beautiful voice. It was actually friendly ribbing and we were here for it. The coaches also had fun with Jonas’ notebook, where the songwriter took detailed notes that included up to two words per performer. We look forward to a full season of Nick’s Notes.

PREACH-OFF

The season kicked off with a four-chair turn for Todd Tilghman, who was as excited as we would be to see Nick Jonas turn around for us. And Kelly Clarkson and John Legend and Blake Shelton. But again, Nick Jonas. The father of eight (EIGHT!) needs a job and it looks like he could get one on The Voice. Todd is a pastor, so Nick and John had a pastor-off to fight over whose family is more religious. Kelly went the kid route and Blake stuck to the music and told Todd he liked the grit and personality in his voice. The Lord shone down on Blake Shelton and Todd picked the secular singer for his coach. Or because he needs saving. TBD.

VERY SUPERSTITIOUS

Nelson Cade III was good enough to sing with Stevie Wonder and he was also good enough to earn the first block of the season when John stole Nick’s chance to fight for the four-chair turn. John was ready to turn based on Nelson’s guitar playing alone and Nick thinks the rock singer can win the show. Nick Notes: "He’s a star. Wow." John continued to play all his hands and dropped Stevie Wonder’s name to clinch the win, but Nelson began his career as a classical pianist and was already a fan of the EGOT winner. John is coming in hot this season and may run out of celebrity friends in the first week. Just kidding, John Legend is never running out of celebs.

NO DOGS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS EPISODE

Nick and Blake fought dirty for 16-year-old singer Tate Brusa, who is about to get a lot of trolling from animal rights groups. The young singer received onstage coaching from Nick, who has experience trying to sing through a teenage voice breaking. How could Blake possibly compete with that kind of support? He brought out a puppy and told Tate that Snowflake was going back to the pound if Blake wasn’t his coach. Bye, Snowflake.

NICK'S NOTES: FIGHT

Monday’s show ended how it began—with a four-chair turn. Kelly, Blake and Nick were quick to throw in the towel, assuming that 18-year-old soul, pop and folk singer Joanna Serenko would pick Team Legend. Same. Joanna was ready to make her pick when Jonas consulted his Nick’s Notes and read the word fight. Nick fought and Joanne picked the JoBro in a move that shocked no one more than Jonas himself. Nick’s Notes don't lie.
Watch The Voice every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2.
