On the new episode of
Grey’s Anatomy (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CTV) Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) new gift confuses her even further, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) faces imperfection, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) finally comes clean, and Miranda (Chandra Wilson) sees the softer side of Tom (Greg Germann). Plus, viewers had a PSA on vaping— don’t do it.Thursday’s episode showed Meredith and Cormac (Richard Flood) aka McWidow treating the same patient (don’t vape!) and getting to know one another. Things we now know about Cormac—his wife died two years ago, his teenage boys are typical teenage boys, he’s nice to pregnant ladies, he doesn’t gloat when he’s right, everything he says sounds cooler in a Irish accent, and he considers Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) a giant pain in the butt. Oh, and he has no idea that she’s Meredith’s person. Wait, what?Viewers can pretty much agree that Cristina sent Cormac to Seattle in hopes he would be a new boyfriend for Meredith, but considering his revelation, that’s no longer a clear mission. Most people don’t set up someone they can’t stand with their bestie. And exactly how is Meredith going to get around her lie? It’s going to be very awkward when the pair eventually get married and Cristina is the maid of honour. But the biggest question remains, doesn’t Cormac know where Cristina worked before moving to Switzerland? And how did a person he hates get him to Seattle? The coffee is good, but it’s not that good.[video_embed id='1736881']RELATED: 'Grey's Anatomy' star Giacomo Gianniotti shares has the ultimate Hollywood success story[/video_embed]
Baby talk
On to the next relationship built on lies, Amelia finally worked up the nerve to tell Link (Chris Carmac) that there’s maybe, possibly, sorta, truly a very good chance that the baby he’s been dreaming about for months is not his. In the latest installment of ‘Why Don’t Doctors Understand How Babies Are Made?,’ Amelia’s unwillingness to first recognize her pregnancy and secondly have any kind of test done to check on the baby has now resulted in this pickle. After taking some time to consider his options, and then reconsidering after a friendly verbal kick in the butt from Jo (Camila Luddington), Link decides that he wants Amelia to get a paternity test. Sure, maybe it won’t matter to him in the end whether the kid is his or not, but before Amelia drops yet another bomb in Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) relationship, which is as strong as tissue paper, it would be nice to have a few facts. On second thought, drop the bomb. It’s time for Teddy to finally go back to Tom.Speaking of Tom, he spent the episode chastising Miranda for taking a three-day vacation before she finally told him she had suffered a miscarriage. Without skipping a beat, Tom shared his own experience of his ex-wife miscarrying twice and showed Miranda the softer side of him that viewers have seen for the past two seasons. It would have been nice if the interaction ended with a hug—there is a serious hug deficit on this show—but at least it did wrap up with Miranda feeling a little less alone in her grief.
Dad Pants
Then there’s Richard (James Perkins Jr.), who finally put on his Dad Pants and showed up on Maggie’s front door with a recipe for pancakes and a plan to get her back into the operating room. Even after Maggie admitted that Sabi’s death could have been prevented if she had asked more questions during surgery, Richard still tried to take the blame, acknowledging that he should not have allowed Maggie to operate on a family member. There’s hope that Maggie will return to work, but as for Richard and Katherine’s (Debbie Allen) marriage, that seems pretty hopeless. As for an update on Alex Karev’s eventual departure: Still in Iowa; future TBA.
