Parenting styles, or lack thereof, are always a touchy subject and often a recipe for an argument, especially when you've got big personalities that we've come to expect from Keeping up with the Kardashians. The editors did a good job of building up to the blowout between Kris Jenner's boyfriend Corey Gamble and Scott Disick by showing off Kourtney’s kids being rude and mouthing back to her in front of Khloe, who appeared shocked by how aggressive and demanding the were. Then Kourtney got a call from Mason’s school after he tried to instigate a fight with another kid. When Scott finds out Mason was being aggressive he is less cavalier about it than his co-parent, noting that he was allowed to get away with everything as a kid and that lack of discipline contributed to his less-than-appealing qualities as an adult, which is awfully self-aware. He doesn’t think Mason should still be allowed to go to a sleepover after this event, though Kourtney already told him he could.Everything came to a head when Kim, Kourtney, Scott, Kris and Corey were at dinner and Kourtney brought up the fact that she lost her nanny because her daughter Penelope scratched the nanny's face causing her to quit. When Corey notes that he would take a different tactic if she scratched his face, Scott started to freak out on him and a screaming match between the two ensued.

Scott’s not backing down when it comes to his kids. A new #KUWTK is this Sunday, only on E!

Kourtney and Scott are parents who, like so many others, do not believe in spanking—so hearing that a man they barely consider part of the family would spank their child infuriated them both and lead to them declaring they will never leave Corey alone with their child. While it reads as an overreaction on their part—not by a Kardashian!—it’s easy to see that Corey was talking about the need for discipline when kids act out aggressively toward adults. No surprise that we learn Kourtney has issues with the whole family criticizing her incredibly laid-back parenting style so to hear any sort of suggestion about how to discipline her own kids was going to set her off.The troubling part of this whole ordeal was the embedded classicism that came through in their immediate freak-out. Both Kourtney and Scott come from a privileged world very different from the one that Corey grew up in—so different that they took Corey saying he'd "whip her ass" literally, as though he was implying he would get physical with their daughter instead of using the phrase as short-hand to describe a much stricter parenting style.Of course many Kardashian fans, and Kanye himself, are no Corey fans but that's for another episode.Watch Keeping up With the Kardashians Sunday nights at 9pmET on E!.
