Kourtney fights for a low key, 'homey' family Christmas on 'KUWTK'

Turns out the KarJenners have very different ideas about what 'homey' means.

Remember last Christmas? Families were still allowed to gather together, people had big holiday parties and somewhere in Calabasas, Kris Jenner and her daughters were having a series of arguments about housekeepers, hot chocolate and Santa Claus. On this week’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, we got a sneak peek into holidays with the first family of reality television. The main takeaway? Everyone loves Christmas, but no one can agree on how or where family gatherings should go down.Kris Jenner’s annual Christmas Eve party is sort of legendary. She’s been hosting it since around 1980 and just last year, passed the hostess torch to daughter Kim. While this tradition is important to all of the KarJenner siblings, it’s a big job and not everyone is on board with holding it at their house. Despite Kim agreeing to take over the annual event as of 2018, Kanye put his foot down and made it clear that wasn’t happening. Um, who’s going to tell Kris? (Not Kanye, apparently.)[video_embed id='5972261722001']RELATED: Kourtney Kardashian is very comfortable in her own skin[/video_embed]

Okay but for real, who is hosting this party?

Later on, Kris suggested that eldest daughter Kourtney take over hosting the Christmas Eve party (this time, at least). “There’s nobody who loves Christmas as much as me, except Kourtney,” Kris asserted, adding that she always does things really beautifully. Kourtney seemed relatively unfazed by the idea and agreed to host, but when the family suggested that they hold Christmas morning at Kylie’s house, Kourtney was not pleased.“Kylie’s will be too over-the-top. She’ll have a chef. Like, I don’t want that,” the Poosh founder explained while eating a meal that was almost certainly prepared by a chef. “I like a homey Christmas.” (Hands up if you’re wondering how Kourtney is still getting so much screen time after quitting the show.)The Christmas morning debate picked up again over another chef-prepared family lunch (this time with Kylie present), wherein Grandma MJ was all of us when she referred to pizza as a vegetable. Again, Kourtney assured everyone that she didn’t mind hosting the Christmas Eve party but she still really, really wanted to host Christmas morning. The family was divided and the topic seemed to drop, but not before MJ sided with Kourt. (Point one, Poosh.)

To cater or not to cater

Waiting to meet with their event planner, Mindy Weiss, the KarJenners were back on the subject on Christmas morning. “It really means a lot to me and I would love to keep it at my house,” Kourtney said firmly, suggesting that everyone do their own thing and then meet for brunch at her place. The rest of the family gave in, admitting that Santa should probably visit individual families instead of just going to Kourtney’s house, but Khloe, Kim and Kris shot back with a few, er, minor requests. You know, like a chef and a clean-up crew to do all of the work. Cue voice-of-reason Kendall, who couldn’t hide her irritation any longer. “I think we can take a day and not be like, waited on?” she said, visibly irked. Kourtney enthusiastically agreed that the morning should be a homey, family-only event, but Kim, Khloe and Kris still wanted to hire help. Seriously, it’s going to be Christmas 2028 before they truly figure this out.“You guys don’t want to cook or lift a finger,” Kourtney accused Kris and Khloe in yet another discussion about the holidays. The mother-daughter duo more or less agreed, saying that Kourtney always hosted but didn’t even cook. “I’m like, toasting bagels and making coffee for everyone!” Kourtney insisted. Somehow, we don’t think that’s going to fly with her sisters. Except Kendall, of course.

Homey is a relative term

In the end, the “homey, old fashioned, woodsy, not perfect” Christmas Eve party that Kourtney kept describing was a full-on glam, formal event wherein Kanye’s Sunday Service choir performed. There was also a performance from Kardashian family BFF Sia, who was dressed as a Christmas doll and asked Kris to adopt her before saying maybe she’d marry Rob instead. Either works, honestly.Christmas morning ended up being “perfect” by all accounts thanks to Kourtney, who stayed up til 3 a.m. decorating, setting tables and prepping food for her demanding relatives. The episode ended with praise from former pains-in-Kourtney’s-behind Kris and Khloe, who admitted that Kourtney did an amazing job before admitting, “We’re kind of f******g annoying.” Merry Christmas, everyone!Keeping Up With The Kardashians airs Thursday evenings at 8pE on E![video_embed id='1949011']BEFORE YOU GO: Gigi and Zayn are expecting![/video_embed]
