It’s been over a year since Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson split in the wake of a(nother) cheating scandal, but here’s a serious question: does Tristan not realize they’ve broken up? Within the first few minutes of this week’s episode of
Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Tristan had surprised Khloe with a Dior purse that cost the equivalent of two months' rent, then referenced their future second child. You know, normal stuff that all exes do.Sorting through their daughter’s old toys over FaceTime, Khloe told Tristan he could add an infant toy to the donate pile because True had outgrown it. Tristan hesitated, saying, “What if we have another girl? We have to buy it all over again?” (Again: they are not even together.) Khloe seemed somewhat surprised by the NBA star’s comment, but not entirely opposed to the idea. After all, she did recently decide to freeze her eggs in order to keep her baby-making options open. True’s really cute and if Tristan fathered a second child, Khloe would still only have one baby daddy to deal with...so...that’s a maybe?[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Khloe Kardashian's secrets to having good days[/video_embed]“I’m just saying, True does need a sibling,” Thompson reasoned, momentarily forgetting that he fathered a son just before meeting Khloe. “Right,” Khloe responded as Tristan looked on hopefully. “I might need to borrow some sperm or get some from you, but we’ll figure that out later. That’s a whole other episode!”Ending the call, she quickly summed things up. “So awkward.”
Co-parenting blues
Baby #2 wasn’t the only thing on Khloe’s mind, though. Sitting down for a heart-to-heart with mama Kris Jenner, True’s mom confessed that she was having trouble with the concept of long distance co-parenting, calling it “the hardest thing I’ve ever had to figure out.” The NBA season was about to begin, which meant Thompson would be based in Cleveland while she remained in L.A. Because it was the first basketball season since their breakup, Khloe was understandably anxious about what sharing custody would look like. “It just gives me anxiety to think about sending her anywhere...she’s just a baby,” Khloe lamented. “I’ve never doubted Tristan as a father, I know how great he is as a father. It’s more my ability to be able to leave my child.”Kris was sympathetic, saying, “I don’t think there’s a handbook for this.”
Taking a break from Khloe’s maternal dilemma, we learned about Kylie’s Jenner’s poor eyesight and seriously terrible driving. Unable to see clearly but inexplicably refusing to wear her glasses, Kylie explained that she doesn’t like how she looks in prescription frames and contacts are “scary.” Even scarier? Laser eye surgery, or as Jenner described it, having a doctor “open my eyeball up and shoot it with a laser.” She’s not wrong—that’s basically what happens—but as Kris pointed out, “You pushed a baby out of your woo-hoo.” We’re with Kris on this one—Kylie can probably handle a little Lasik. (Spoiler alert: she does, with Kris delivering a perfect, “You’re doing amazing, sweetie!” as her eyeball was cut open.)Back at Khloe’s house, Tristan continued to act more like a boyfriend than an ex. “It’s just very confusing,” Khloe noted for the hundredth time. Hey, we get it; he’s your baby’s father, he’s putting in effort to make amends and he gives nice gifts—but, he’s still the same guy who allegedly cheated on you with a longtime family friend. It’s not exactly a love story for the ages, but it’s real life. Eventually, Khloe talks to Tristan about needing more space, admitting that his surprise visits make her feel smothered. Yessssss, Khloe—way to advocate for yourself AND keep the designer purse.
You made it weird
In the end, Khloe flew to Cleveland with True, getting her settled in at Tristan’s home while making sure it was appropriately baby-proofed. “Tristan is asking all the right questions, he’s being super attentive, and that makes me feel a lot better about everything,” she explained, looking genuinely relieved that he was well-prepared for the visit. Her relief may have been short-lived, though, as Tristan quickly made it weird again. Saying that he might never give True back, Thompson asserted that she was “home” in Cleveland. When Khloe asked him not to make her more anxious by making kidnapping jokes, he doubled down, saying, “You don’t have to leave.” Naturally, this was spoken as he sprawled across a plush white carpet that he’d just described as “very soft.” The invitation landed somewhere between flirting, a joke and a threat, and Khloe politely declined.A for effort, Tristan. You’re sort of all over the place, but honestly, you tried. And hey, if you keep at it, you might just end up with another bun in Khloe’s oven. No matter what happens, we’re rooting for Khloe to come out on top.
