This week’s episode of
Keeping Up With The Kardashians (Thursdays at 8pET on E!) was all about big feelings and big drama, but the most shocking part of all was that—gasp—Kendall was involved. Usually a beacon of calm in the hurricane that is the KarJenner clan, Kenny was front and centre in some serious family chaos. Months after Kim and Kourtney threw down on camera came a verbal altercation between Kendall and Kylie that eventually turned physical. Honest to God, this is the sort of drama we expect from the oldest three, not sweet, low-key Kendall. What is going on?!Before we get to any of that, some context. Kris had encouraged all of her daughters to come stay at her Palm Springs mansion to reconnect and have quality time in the wake of Kim and Kourtney’s recent fight. “Part of my job is to make sure that the girls are getting along right now,” Kris said, straddling her position as caring mom and reality television mogul. She decided they needed some quality family time in Palm Springs, or as she called it, “everybody’s happy place.”
With that, all five daughters showed up in Palm Springs along with Scott and a whole bunch of grandkids. North West confidently rode in on a motorized suitcase, proving once again that she is Kanye West’s child. An entire crew of household staff, including a personal chef, were on hand for the weekend. Among the adults, there were some tense moments, some laughs and a trivia-style family game wherein we learned that Kim’s favourite colour is “beige or nude.”Kris spent some time Lysoling every surface of the house as it was revealed the United States had “almost 100 cases” of COVID-19—a scary figure at the time of filming, likely in early March. (It’s slightly nostalgic, but mostly frightening considering where we are now. What a weird six-month-old time capsule).We got a behind-the-scenes look at Kendall’s iconic
“still no kids” Instagram story; Scott broke an expensive lamp and hid it; the kids built a fort; and general shenanigans ensued until Khloe announced that the sisters were heading to a drag show for the evening. Everyone loves a drag show, right? (Seriously, drag shows are the best).Kylie and Khloe were ready to party like only a mom on vacation can but Kendall, Kim and Kourtney were less into the idea. After some outfit drama involving Kylie “stealing” an outfit that Kendall was going to borrow from Kourtney, the whole mood was definitely not chill. At dinner, Kylie downed a series of alcoholic drinks while Kourt deadpanned, “I’m just appreciating my bread.” Afterwards, an anxious and exasperated Kendall decided to nap in the back of an escalade while the rest of the family attended the drag show. This is when things went down (off camera, sadly).According to Kendall, she asked to be dropped off at her house in Beverly Hills and Kylie said no, since she was headed for Calabasas. Some heated comments were exchanged; Corey suggested that Kendall get her own car and somehow, Kendall and Kylie ended up slapping each other in the backseat. Kylie then allegedly hit Kendall in the neck with a high heel and Corey was accused of saying, “f--k you,” to the supermodel sister. Soon after, Kendall was apparently abandoned at a gas station as Kylie and Corey headed home without her. She was visibly shaken and in tears when momager Kris, Khloe, Kourtney and Kim went back and picked her up.
In short: that escalated quickly. (We didn’t see how things ended, so stay tuned for next week when the aftermath of Palm Springs goes on full display).So, does Kylie have some really good dirt on Corey or what? Honestly, he spent the episode sucking up to her like it was his job, repeatedly complimenting the youngest KarJenner sister and saying, “thank God for you,” with alarming earnestness. It might have been sweet if Corey didn’t seem so desperate to keep Kylie happy. Instead it was... weird? Did Kylie help you bury a body, Corey, or does she know something Mama Kris wouldn’t like? Or do you just really, genuinely love Kylie that much?Whether you’re Team Kendall, Team Kylie or simply eating popcorn while watching another feud go down, you’ve got to wonder where all of these tensions are headed. Might we suggest the family visit a therapist’s office next time, instead of booze-filled bar? In retrospect, that probably wasn’t the ideal place to salvage sisterly bonds. Some calming yoga might have been a better choice.Finally, how much did we love that little peck between Scott and 10-year-old Mason? NORMALIZE DADS AND SONS SHOWING AFFECTION!
