Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest are taking their friendship to the small screen…again. The hosts of the
Live With Kelly And Ryan are using their friendship as inspiration for a new TV series that will focus on the platonic relationship between co-workers who are also best friends. Ripa and Seacrest are on board to produce
Work Wife, which is currently in development at ABC. Turns out, men and women can just be friends.
EW shared the logline for the new series, which has been ordered to go to pilot: “Inspired by the real-life partnerships of producers Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest and writers Casey Johnson and David Windsor,
Work Wife tells the story of a platonic male/female team whose professional success, personal friendship and ability to share deodorant makes their lives work. Set in the world of real estate, Dani and Scott have taken the leap to start their own team. Now feeling the stress of being the boss, they have to rely on the yin-yang of their dynamic more than ever to keep their professional and personal lives afloat.”ABC has yet to announce any casting decisions, but Ripa shared the news of
Work Wife on her Instagram and got some very tempting offers.
Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski wrote, “Not sure which of you I’d rather play TBH,” while actor Holly Peete made it clear she was auditioning for the role of ‘Dani,’ writing “Can I play you??” Stylist Carson Kressley is hoping for a supporting role and left the comment, “OMG I’m trying out for the part of Gelman. Or Art! Who do I call?”
Ripa and Seacrest’s chemistry is obvious on-screen, with the close friends creating a warm and welcoming environment for their celebrity guests and millions of loyal viewers. True friends dance together, dress up for Halloween together, and check if the other is okay when one of you

Hope & Faith, which ran for three seasons. The notoriously busy Ripa and Seacrest somehow managed to find a five-minute break in their schedule to help create
Work Wife, which the pair will produce while continuing to host their daily hour-long show. Of course, that’s in additional to Seacrest’s other jobs, including hosting
American Idol, hosting his own daily radio show, hosting every major red carpet for
E! News, and executive producing
