Broken lamps, party crashers and friends waking up in the bushes…it sounds like every teenage house party, but when you’re Oliver and Kate Hudson, things can get a little extra. While promoting their
Sibling Revelry podcast on
The Ellen DeGeneres Show (weekdays on CTV at 3pET) this week, the famous sibs looked back on their younger years and revealed that like many brothers and sisters, they fought as kids, had fake IDs as teens and threw epic house parties when their parents were out of town. (Just remember, those parents happen to be Hollywood royalty Goldie Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell.)“We used to throw crazy, huge parties,” Oliver revealed as Kate jumped in, adding, “We were naughty when our parents would leave town.” Oliver recalled that Goldie once even found one of his friends passed out in the yard, asleep inside one of her rugs (yes, actually rolled up inside of it). Like all of us, a young Olly had also blamed a party casualty on the family dogs, claiming that they broke his mom’s lamp. (Sorry, moms everywhere—it’s never the dogs.)
And then Ethan Hunt showed up...
It’s all super-relatable until the moment Kate revealed that one mega-superstar showed up to crash one of these house parties in true action-star fashion. “I’m standing at the door making sure that people who aren’t supposed to be at the party aren’t coming in—there were like 400 people at our parents’ house—and I see someone scaling, literally scaling an 8-foot gate at my parents’ house,” Kate explained. “I’m freaking out. I see this person come up and they come off and do like, a back handspring thing and a pose, and I’m about to yell at this guy and it’s Tom Cruise. And I was like, ‘Oh, I didn’t realize you were coming to our party.’”Oliver chimed in, imitating the action star. “He’s like, 'I wasn’t invited
.'”“He is
Mission Impossible!” Kate exclaimed. “It was wild. I’m not kidding.”
While we’d love to know more details there (did this happen when they were teens or later on? Was Tom Cruise married to Nicole Kidman at the time? Why didn’t he just ring the bell?!), it’s clear that the Hudson family knows how to have a good time. Eventually, Kate asserts that her parents stopped being upset about their house parties and instead, joined in. “Our parents came to OUR parties at THEIR house,” she laughed. “We’d throw the party and our parents would just show up.”In addition to reveling in teen memories, the siblings played a game of “Truth or Shot” using Kate's own recently-launched vodka brand called King Street as the libation of choice. As Ellen quizzed them, they both refused to name a famous person they’d secretly kissed but happily admitted to smoking weed with their famous parents. “Headline!” Kate joked as they high-fived. We only have one follow up question: how exactly do we score an invitation to the next party?[video_embed id='5430453417001']RELATED: Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa Make it red carpet official[/video_embed]
