It looks like Jennifer Aniston is a celeb who gets it. She's using her public platform to really shout-out and lift up the true heroes in our society right now: the nurses, doctors and other frontline workers who are treating patients and keeping the world running while we all do our part to flatten the curve of COVID-19 by staying home. One of the best reasons for self-isolating during this global pandemic, in addition to slowing the rate of infection, is that it also protects those frontline healthcare workers who are understaffed, under-equipped and overworked. They're battling every day to save people’s lives, and an unfortunate side effect of that is they are at a high risk to contract it themselves. On Thursday, Jimmy Kimmel chatted with nurse Kimball Fairbanks from St. George, Utah who tested positive for the disease last week.As Kimball was describing how hard it is to self-isolate from her two little daughters, and her COVID-19 symptoms (“I felt like I’d been hit by a train”), the video-chat screen with Jimmy split in two and, tah-dah, Jennifer Aniston appeared to say hello.
“Hi honey, it’s so good to meet you!” Jen exclaimed to a shocked and overwhelmed Kimball who covered her heart with her hand in awe. “I just have to say God bless you, and all of you that are out there doing what you're doing. I don't even know how to express my gratitude to everything that you guys are doing. Putting your health at risk and all of that—you're just phenomenal.”Jimmy and Jen then added to the surprise by giving Kimball a $10,000 gift card to Postmates so she can order in all the food she wants without having to cook, plus additional gift cards for every nurse on her floor at the hospital. *Sniff* Okay we’re gonna need a moment. It's not the first time Aniston has highlighted our healthcare heroes—she led the social distancing charge back in mid-March by posting thank-yous to doctors and nurses as well as instructions for best practices on keeping yourself and others safe.[video_embed id='1932827']RELATED: Jimmy Fallon’s interview with Lady Gaga did not go well[/video_embed]Before Kimball's surprise, Jen spent some time chatting with Jimmy about her own self-isolation. “This is the only communication I’ve been having with human beings!” she revealed in addition to noting that she hasn’t left her house in three weeks. “I’m a born agoraphobe! For me, this isn’t much of a challenge!”When you think of the glamourous life we assume Jen has—walking around in flowing gowns, traipsing across red carpets, winning awards, dating and marrying the most beautiful men on the planet—it's highly relatable when she talks about what a nerdy homebody she truly is.“My new favourite, favourite thing in the world is doing the dishes!” she said with almost too much enthusiasm. “Because not only are you doing your dishes you're washing your hands!”So, it’s official. The Rachel has become the Monica.[video_embed id='1932229']BEFORE YOU GO: Samuel L. Jackson says ‘STAY THE F HOME’[/video_embed]
