There are endless possibilities on this earth, and you never know what you can achieve if you just try. Even if you think something is out of your reach, just remember Jeff Goldblum’s infamous line from Jurassic Park, “Life, uh, uh, finds a way.” It turns out the actor heeded his own advice recently when he was putting together a list of musicians he wanted to collab with on his new album. Yes, you read that right, Jeff Goldblum is following in the illustrious footsteps of other actors-turns-musicians like Eddie Murphy, Bruce Willis, and Scarlett Johansson (yes, seriously). To give his album, I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, credence, Jeff reached out to some major heavyweights like Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten, and Miley Cyrus to add their voices. Lo and behold, "ask and you shall receive" actually works. On Instagram that is. Jeff admitted Wednesday that he used the social media platform to shoot his shot with Miley Cyrus and honestly, we're impressed. In his appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jeff told the entire story dressed in the most Jeff Goldblum ensemble we've ever seen—brown leather jacket, florescent-patterned shirt, striped tie, slicked side pompadour and thick hipster glasses. He told Seth that it took one Miley Cyrus performance for him to be totally enchanted.
“You know, when I first saw her, the only time I’ve ever seen her live, was on the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Live," he said, adding that he also rubbed elbows with Keith Richards at the show (which is probably just good for your health—maybe whatever magic elixir is keeping him alive will rub off on you). "Remember what she did that night?" Jeff continued, “I thought it was fantastic. The guys in my band said, ‘You know, she’s so big, I don’t know if calling her representatives will work, you should send her a note on Instagram!’ Which I’ve never done before and haven’t done since.”“And it worked?” Seth blurted (apparently even late night talk show hosts have trouble getting hold of certain celebs).“She got back to me right away!”On the SNL 40 special last year, Miley deviated from the pop/rock/country form she's known for and sang "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" in a sultry, jazzy performance that showed off her truly impeccable range. The singer tapped back into that jazz talent for Goldblum's album on which she sings "The Thrill is Gone / Django" accompanied by Jeff and his band. It's incredible to think such an old school jazzy number is courtesy of such a Millennial form of communication, but it just goes to show you—shoot your shot and maybe, just maybe, Miley Cyrus will agree to sing on your album.[video_embed id='1821595']RELATED: Miley Cyrus brings Cody Simpson to her brother’s wedding[/video_embed]
