Jamie Lynn Spears teases a ‘Zoey 101’ reunion

Pack your bags because it’s time to return to boarding school. Or the TV version of it anyhow. Jamie Lynn Spears made the dreams of many Zoey 101 fans come true over the weekend when she teased another reunion, and tagged all of her former co-stars in the post.“WE’RE BACK! ARE YOU READY?!” Spears, who played title character Zoey Brooks on the series, teased on Instagram along with a short graphic over a teal and purple backdrop. It was one of several graphics she posted in a series meant to tease fans. She then tagged former co-stars Sean Flynn (Chase Matthews), Erin Sanders (Quinn Pensky), Matthew Underwood (Logan Reese) and Chris Massey (Michael Barret).

The 29-year-old performer also made a similar announcement on Twitter, and then tried to get #followmezoey101 trending on the platform. She also shared a photo of herself in-character in front of a green screen. “*zoey voice* “Are you ready?” she captioned the post.

And that's not the only Zoey news that has fans excited. Spears is also getting ready to drop a new single on Thursday, "Follow Me (Zoey 101)," a reimagining of the show's original theme song, which was written by Jamie and big sister Britney.Spears’ costars also shared the Instagram post, but no one added any clues about what fans should expect. Whatever the reunion/reboot/reimaging/revival winds up being, it will be the first time the cast is all together since they reunited in an All That sketch this past summer. In that sketch Spears played the dual roles of herself and Thelma Stump, aka the grumpy backstage security guard.Zoey 101 ran for four seasons on Nickelodeon, from 2005 to 2008. The series tracked Spears’ Zoey character as she settled into her new Malibu boarding school, which had just expanded to include female students. Two months after filming on the final season wrapped, the crew learned that a then-16-year-old Spears was pregnant with her first child, Maddie Briann. She had her daughter with her ex-fiancé, Casey Aldridge, and in 2018 she welcomed her second daughter, Ivey Joan Watson, with her husband Jamie Watson.Since appearing on the teen series Spears has taken a step back from acting, but earlier this year she made her debut in Sweet Magnolias as Noreen Fitzgibbons. "I had been in denial, not really admitting to myself how much I missed acting," Spears told The Hollywood Reporter last May. "I was working on my music for a while, and then I focused on my family for a bit. With acting, I was just waiting for a project that made sense.”In that same interview Spears also touched upon the potential Zoey 101 reboot, giving fans everywhere a better idea of what to potentially expect following this most recent announcement. “Everything and anything is on the table, whether that's a movie or a series. In all of the discussions I've had with Nickelodeon — which are in baby stages, by the way — the main thing is figuring out the right home for the reboot,” she said. “We couldn't do it justice by putting it back on Nickelodeon, because our fanbase has grown into young adults like me, 29 or around the same age. We want to tell stories about where the characters are now.
