We all know One Direction fans are rather zealous and tenacious. Harry, Louis, Liam, Niall, and Ringo Zayn (okay, fine, Zayn isn't technically a member any more, we get it) have been on indefinite hiatus for five years now, and even though they all participated and contributed to celebrating their 10-year anniversary this year, it doesn’t seem like a big reunion tour is in the works any time soon. Apart from a global pandemic preventing the non-essential travel needed to reunite, each of the boys have embarked on rather successful solo careers. Still, that hasn’t stopped 1D fans from asking James Corden, host of The Late Late Show and dear friend of all five boy band cuties, for a rather unorthodox favour.“As you can see here, I’ve had thousands of comments on Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, insisting that I kidnap One Direction,” he said back in studio with a skeleton crew on Wednesday night. “You know that they’ve appeared willingly on the show before, right?”
“I’m not going to brag, I do have their phone numbers,” he continued, “So maybe you guys are right; it is way easier to determine their respective locations, leave my family, fly to different countries all over the world during a pandemic, kidnap them, and force them to sing ‘Night Changes’ in my car.”Revealing that the social media managers of The Late Late Show’s social media feeds have been receiving on average 300 comments per week from 1D fans, begging that James kidnap, YES ACTUALLY KIDNAP, the boys and force them back together again, James quipped, “Put them back together? This is a boy band, not Humpty Dumpty!”After James spent so long insisting so emphatically that he doesn’t have the power to reunite the beloved boy band, our Spidey-senses started tingling. We’re not sure if, in this instance, the late night host doth protest too much. Because who could forget the time James Corden kidnapped, YES KIDNAPPED, the Jonas Brothers and forced them to reunite!?[video_embed id='2031658']MORE TV NEWS: The 'real’ reasons KUWTK is ending [/video_embed]It’s true, dear Directioners, James has in fact done this before, with much success! So we have to wonder: is he hinting at something here? Is this just a quick sleight of hand to throw us off his scent while he schemes to bring his evil, sinister, brilliant, wonderful plan to fruition?James, we don’t like to cast aspersions, but we all know this is in your immense late night power. Make it happen! Naturally, the "Carpool Karaoke" mastermind wasn’t about to let on to any hush-hush plans he has in the works, and instead chose to finish off the segment with a compilation of clips from One Direction’s time on the show. Yes, the dodgeball game was in there. The tattoo incident was in there. And there was one other Easter egg.Fans of both the show and the band have been asking for years in the YouTube comments for the clip of the band going through the McDonald’s drive-thru with James Corden, and naturally, in the compilation, there it was. So, if James can deliver on that on small request... look, we’re not saying, we’re just saying!Watch The Late Late Show with James Corden weekdays at 12:37 a.m. ET on CTV.[video_embed id='2031669']BEFORE YOU GO: Drake's son heads to his first day of school [/video_embed]
