It’s only been a few months since we said goodbye to the people of Westeros, but the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryens and co. have already reunited on stage at the 2019 Emmy Awards. Maybe this is the ending we didn’t get but really wanted. Everyone looking healthy, happy, alive, and not having sex with their relatives. The incredible cast of Game of Thrones took the stage to present Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie to The Act’s Patricia Arquette. The HBO series made history this year with 32 nominations, the most of any show in a single season, and for good reason. The juggernaut drama broke streaming records and resulted in an incredible 10 acting nominations, with all the show’s nominated stars on stage, including Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Carice van Houten. While all 10 actors on stage were greeted with a loving reception, it was Gwendoline Christie who received a thundering applause so strong that she had to pause before delivering her line. It’s almost as if the Emmys were worried we had forgotten how much we cried when Jamie knighted Brienne of Tarth and wanted to remind us. And then also remind of us how we felt when Jamie left Brienne in her nightgown to ride off and be with Cersei. All the tears. Again. And again. #JusticeForBrienne. You’ll believe God is a woman. And a knight. When it comes to seeing the cast together, we still have the Golden Globes to look forward to, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t soaking up every Game of Thrones moment we can right now.
