The force continues to be with Star Wars fans over at Disney+, where the streaming service has rolled out shows like The Mandalorian (Baby Yoda!) and announced upcoming projects like the untitled Cassian Andor and untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Well now they’re at it again, as rumours swirl that Donald Glover may be reprising his role as the young Lando Calrissian for an upcoming series. The potential bombshell was dropped on a podcast called Kessel Run Transmissions earlier this week, when the hosts claimed Glover could return for an original Disney+ series. Collider, which first reported the news, was unable to confirm the report with Disney+, however. And as the publication points out, Glover is kind of in high demand with all of his other projects right about now. Adding another show to his list—especially one where he would play the lead—would be… a lot. As fans are well aware, Glover is pretty busy performing under his Childish Gambino musical moniker (he dropped a new album earlier this year), not to mention producing, writing, and starring in his own Emmy-winning FX series, Atlanta, which is scheduled to return for a third and fourth season at some point. Still, the idea that Glover could be reprising his Star Wars role is appealing to plenty of fans out there. To recap, Glover was a critical highlight when he played a younger version of Billy Dee Williams’ memorable smuggler character in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story. As per Collider the powers that be were pretty into the actor’s take while making the movie too, supposedly paying him lots of money to take the gig and also flying his Atlanta writing staff in to London where the movie filmed so that Glover could continue working on his TV series. In promoting the film, Glover confirmed that he played Lando as a pansexual character, telling Entertainment Weekly, “How can you not be pansexual in space?” The actor then continued, “There are so many things to have sex with. I didn’t think that was that weird. Yeah, he’s coming on to everybody. I mean, yeah, whatever. It just didn’t seem that weird to me ‘cause I feel like if you’re in space it’s kind of like, the door is open! It’s like, no, only guys or girls. No, it’s anything. This thing is literally a blob. Are you a man or a woman? Like, who cares? Have good time out here.”That kind of representation is something critics have long said is missing from the Star Wars universe, which is a whole other reason to get excited about a potential Lando series. Meanwhile, as Collider points out, Kessel Run Transmissions also broke the story that The Bad Batch, a.k.a. the Clone Wars spinoff, would be coming to Disney+, weeks before an official announcement so there is a track record to take into consideration. It’s also worth noting that this series has been speculated about before; Beyond the Trailer host Grace Randolph also reported that this series (with both Williams and Glover on board), was a go back in April. If the show does actually go forward, it will be one of many Star Wars projects coming out over the next several years on Disney+. In addition to the Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi series there is a new female-centric series from Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland and the comedic animated take, Star Wars Detours, in the works. Add in the brand new trilogy that Lucasfilm is hoping Rian Johnson will write, a mysterious film (and maybe more) from Marvel Studios prez Kevin Feige, a top secret project from director J.D. Dillard, and the anticipated potential take from Taika Waititi, and Star Wars fans have plenty to look forward to in the near future.Or you know, in a galaxy far, far, away.[video_embed id='1999747']BEFORE YOU GO: Bear cub with a bucket stuck on its head finally rescued[/video_embed]
