Everyone says that honesty is one of the top qualities they value in their romantic partners (after dreamy eyes and nice tush, of course), but we bet that many a relationship has been torn apart when someone honestly told their boo that, sorry, that joke wasn’t funny, or hey, you don’t look fresh in that outfit. Common, who is currently
loved-up with Tiffany Haddish (we know, we adore them as a couple too!), had a lot to say on
The Kelly Clarkson Show about the art of honesty when it comes to dating one of the best comedians in the world. According to him, you can’t be honest without being caring.“Sometimes she'll say some jokes that are not as funny,” he admitted to Kelly. “I mean she's courageous enough to do it so it lets me feel more inspired to just say some stuff doesn't work.”
“I'm honest, I say it like truthfully,” the Oscar-winning rapper continued, noting that his honesty extends to when he thinks she might commit a fashion faux-pas. “I got to be truthful with her and caring! I'm caring but I'm honest and I'm not going to let her go out if I think something is not fresh, and if a joke is not really funny I'm not going fake laugh. I'm not that.”Lest you think Common believes himself a better comedian than Tiff, who is one of the best comedians of our time, he then very humbly admitted that his jokes are cornier than Kellogg’s Corn Flakes.“I will say I'm definitely like funny but in a corny way,” he admitted. “Like dad jokes! It's not hard dating a comedian but I don't try to keep up with her jokes even though I throw mine in. She's like on another level.”[video_embed id='2004001']RELATED: Tiffany Haddish says racism is making her afraid to have children [/video_embed]Common is clearly smitten (but in a realistic way) and Tiff seams to be enjoying their time together too, because
she said last month that this is the best relationship she’s ever been in.“I’ve lost 20 pounds since I’ve been in this relationship. I feel more confident in me and it’s not him that’s doing it,” she told Steve-O on his
Wild Ride podcast. “I’m just way happier and it’s, like, knowing that I got somebody that cares about me, that really has my back. It seems like he does anyways, and I love it. I love him.”The duo, who met a few years ago when they co-starred in
The Kitchen, began dating earlier this year around the onset of the pandemic. After getting tested and quarantining apart, they decided to isolate together.Does that make them Common-law married?
