Let's just get it out there: Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor was just a trainwreck from beginning to end. We all know the producers love to create hurdles for these wee lads and lasses on their journey to love, and that's exactly what episode four was all about. It all started with the promise of a glamorous trip around the world. Finally a little culture! Are they going to romantic Paris? Cosmopolitan Milan? Sultry Lisbon?Oh, they’re going to Cleveland. Neat.Everyone tried to get into the spirit of things (after some major shade), and when Peter the Pilot took Victoria F. on her one-on-one date, they both had the right attitude: make it fun. And they totally did. Pete took her up in a small Cessna plane; they went on rides at an amusement park; they shot some hoops (which wasn’t a good look for poor Pete who couldn’t sink a single basket. Yikes). They were holding hands and smooching and canoodling the entire time. Maybe the producer’s plan to make things rocky might take a backseat to—Oh no wait, there’s Victoria’s ex-boyfriend. Spoke too soon.Peter was so excited to treat Victoria to a private concert, knowing that she loves country music, and she seemed giddy at first as they walked into the arena. Only problem was the private concert was performed by Chase Rice, whom Victoria dated right before she came on the show. You read that right. AWK-WARD. Peter gushing over this being "one of the coolest dates [he's] ever been on" certainly lands differently with that new info. Some Bach producer got a big raise for this one.
But that’s not all, Victoria says Chase didn’t want her to come on the show at all. Naturally, Chase being a pro, and Victoria being, like, on a date, both exes sucked it up and put on a brave face, while Pete was blissfully unaware of any subtext. But the cameras zoomed on both their faces as their eyes met, and that picture was worth a thousand words. Why would Chase Rice go on The Bachelor, knowing that his ex was there? As he tells it, he didn’t.“I didn’t know any of that was going to happen!” he told Storme Warren on Siriux XM’s The Highway. “I found out about an hour before that it was a possibility, and I was like, you gotta be kidding me man. Because at the end of the day... I didn’t want to be a part of that, you know?... I don’t know why it happened, but if you’re saying I went on there to surprise them, no. Not even a little true.”Still, as Chase and Peter shook hands and chatted post-concert, you could see Victoria’s insides exploding like a powder keg. And we can’t blame her. We know that's their job, but seriously—we're still shocked that the producers did her that dirty.[video_embed id='1590349']RELATED: Bachelor contestant Hannah B. would NOT like to make a toast[/video_embed]Cleveland had more torture in store for the ladies when Peter's ex returned as well. That is, if you can call contestant Alayah, who was booted off last week an "ex." She sauntered right into the group date, stole all of Peter’s time and somehow managed to finagle her way back into the house by getting a rose. Gurl, WHAT? She. Wasn’t. Even. On. The. Group. Date. With all these major shockers in one episode, we're going to have to have a defibrillator on hand for the rest of the season.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Cat and parrot trying very hard to be friends[/video_embed]
