BTS are continuing to make history as the most successful K Pop group in the world. Fresh off their performance at the Grammy Awards in January, where they became the first K Pop group to ever perform at the annual award show, the seven-member ensemble are now checking yet another item off their list of signs they’ve ‘made it’ in America – they’re about to get in a car with James Corden in their own Carpool Karaoke segment.Corden made the announcement on the Instagram page for
The Late Late Show With James Corden (weekdays at 12:37 a.m. ET on CTV) on Monday, with collective screams from the BTS Army heard around the world almost immediately. To give some context to just how massive BTS has become in North America, the Instagram post announcing the most recent Carpool Karaoke episode with Justin Bieber has around
111,000 likes, while BTS’ pic is up to 152,000 likes in less than 24 hours. It takes a lot to be bigger than the Biebs.
The episode, which will undoubtedly become the most watched episode of Carpool Karaoke ever, is set to be released in full on February 25. The group likely filmed their segment during their January 28 appearance on
The Late Late Show With James Corden, appearing on the talk show only hours after performing at the Grammy Awards with Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus and Diplo. The group were surprisingly left off the nomination list for this year’s show, which is hopefully a snub that the Grammys will correct when the 2021 nominations are announced.[video_embed id='1751695']RELATED: K-pop sensation BTS take a break from the limelight to ‘enjoy life’[/video_embed]The South Korean septet are set to release their fourth album
Map of the Soul: 7 on February, named for the seven members of BTS and honouring the seventh anniversary since releasing their debut single. “Seven is a really special number for us. We’ve practised so hard for these tracks and the dance routines of course,” group leader RM told Corden during their January 28 appearance. “Please stay tuned for the album. It’s gonna be hot.”Corden wrapped the scream-filled interview on a high, asking BTS member V what the band’s message is for their devoted BTS Army, many of whom camped out in front of the Late Late Show studio in hopes of catching a glimpse of the K-Pop superstars. “We want the army to be happy through our music and we’ll be there for you, who we love,” said V.
BTS kept things light during the appearance on the Late Late Show, even playing a game of
hide and seek with Corden and fellow guest Ashton Kutcher. But the band got down to business when it was time to sing their lead single “Black Swan,” marking their first time performing the new single on television. Not-so-spoiler-alert; they nailed it.
