Kelly Clarkson did her part to make dreams come true this week. The daytime TV host invited guests Dan Levy and Stephanie Beatriz to her show on Monday and introduced the longtime mutual fans, leading to a moment that would leave Beatriz in tears. To be clear, they were the good kind of tears. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star was overcome with emotion during her first meeting with Levy, which took place on-set at Clarkson’s show. “I just have to say, as a fellow person in the queer community, I am so amazed by you. I think the fact that the Human Rights Campaign is honouring you is not enough. I’m gonna cry,” said Beatriz, who was visibly holding back tears throughout the segment.“I just think that your work in general is just so beautiful and so thrilling, but the thing that you’ve done, which I think is so incredible, is that you’ve introduced audiences to this character who just so happens to be who he is and that is going to create change. Social change, empathy in people, and it’s so incredible.”[video_embed id='1786976']Hot men’s fashion looks on the Emmy’s red carpet[/video_embed]Beatriz was referencing Levy’s Schitt's Creek character David, who the actor plays in the breakout, and beloved, comedy. The Canadian entertainer is the creator, writer and star of Schitt’s Creek, which has been lauded as one of the most groundbreaking comedies in TV history, earning three GLAAD noms, four Primetime Emmy noms, including Outstanding Comedy Series and lead actor and actress nods for Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara.Beatriz herself has also had a sizable impact on the TV landscape and mainstream representation of the LGBTQ community. The actor has starred as detective Rosa Diaz on Brooklyn Nine-Nine for seven seasons and like Beatriz, her character is openly bisexual.

Her character didn’t come out until the show’s historic 100th episode, though, something Beatriz says was helpful in terms of gaining the audience’s support.“By the time you’ve introduced it, you’ve already got the audience in love with you. They already know you, they trust you, you’re funny, you’re having a good time. Then suddenly, for quite a few people who have never met anybody [in the LGBTQ community], you’re going to be the first person that they’re meeting that identifies that way or is that sexuality. For me specifically, there’s just so little representation across the board for Latinas in television and Latinas in film,” said Beatriz. “For me to be Latina and queer and Bi, and be playing a Bi character and be openly Bi myself, it’s a lot of stuff.”“And do such a beautiful job,” added Levy. Now we’re crying as well.[video_embed id='1898952']BEFORE YOU GO: Justin Bieber holds 'Changes' album listening session with famous fans[/video_embed]
