The surgeons on Grey’s Anatomy (Thursdays at 9 pET on CTV) start each day with the best of intentions, but drama is a tumor that not even a Harper Avery winner can remove. On this week’s episode, Meredith’s quest to fix the healthcare system in the United States continued with a day of pro-bono surgeries. Teddy helped a fellow veteran, Levi stood up for himself and Andrew tried to advocate for a patient. Unfortunately for the Chief Resident, his past behaviour and possibly manic outburst may have cost him his career.

Andrew’s misguided mission

One of the biggest issues with Andrew’s (Giacomo Gianniotti) possible manic episodes is that it’s difficult to decipher between actions that signal a sickness and actions that simply mean he's a dedicated and brilliant doctor. When fighting for Suzanne (guest star Susan Rafferty), Andrew stopped eating, stopped sleeping, and stopped listening to reason. But his dedication helped uncover the rare diagnosis that saved Suzanne’s life, even if his behaviour had him removed from the operating room and relegated to the pit. This week, Andrew suspected that a young patient was the victim of sex trafficking. She fit the profile, but because of his earlier outburst, his concerns weren’t taken seriously by his nurse or Miranda (Chandra Wilson).[video_embed id='1736881']RELATED: Grey's Anatomy Giacomo Gianniotti shares has the ultimate Hollywood success story[/video_embed]It wasn’t until Andrew verbally attacked the patient’s aunt that the other doctors realized how serious the situation was, but not for the reasons Andrew wanted them to notice. Following protocol often used in the case of a violent patient, the doctors formed a human chain around Andrew before having security remove him. Andrew made a deal with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) that he would take the suspension from the hospital if she convinced Miranda to call the sex trafficking hotline. Miranda was too late and the patient left with her aunt, who appeared to be abusing her. So, Andrew was right, but as is the case with mental health stigmas, his opinion was dismissed.

Meredith’s legendary day

Helm (Jaicy Elliot) may be single white female-ing Meredith, matching braids and all, but she’s right–Mer is a bit legendary. Using the dirty money donated by the billionaire during last week’s episode, Meredith and the rest of the surgeons, including Jo (Camilla Luddington), just Jo, performed 25 surgeries for free in one day. It was an impressive feat to witness and it revealed a little bit of Meredith’s twisted sister-ness to Hayes (Richard Flood).

Levi and Nico split

When Link (Chris Carmack) turned down his old job in order to stay in Seattle to be Amelia’s baby daddy, he recommended Nico (Alex Landi), who jumped at the chance to be a sports doctor and spend half the year travelling. Nico doesn’t see why this would warrant a conversation with Levi (Jake Borelli), because Nico doesn’t think anything warrants a conversation with Levi. Nico pushed Levi to accept that he’s gay, move out of his mom’s house and even wear contacts. These life changes have also pushed Levi to stand up for himself and demand more, which Nico won’t give into. At least Levi gets a new roommate with sad Jo, who reminded Levi, and all viewers, that the pair once hooked up. Time flies when your husband is making good on his self-fulfilling prophecy to be a jerk.

Teddy’s dilemma

Well, the baby isn’t Owens (Kevin McKidd), so there’s that. Teddy (Kim Raver) looks almost disappointed at the news, which would have given her a clear out of her relationship with Owen. Instead, she’s left to figure out whether she can live with Owen and her guilt or leave the guy she’s loved for decades who only started loving her five minutes ago.
